ROSEVILLE, California --A new idea for distributing "lap-money" will highlight the United States Auto Club Western Sprint Car event at ALL American Speedway, Saturday, May 31, 2008. In past events — "lap-money" at $50 per lap was awarded to the top three in the running order. $25 saw its way into the pockets of the lap leader, with $15, and $10 respectively making up bonus cash for the second place and third place driver on each lap.

The new deal will rotate through the field like this: Lap one offers bonus money for first, second, and third, lap two will offer money to second, third, and fourth, lap three cash is earmarked for third, fourth, and fifth. The sequence continues through the field for the remainder of the race before snaking back to the front and starting over again.

The USAC Western Sprint Cars have proven wildly popular at All-American Speedway - returning last year after an absence of over thirty years. To date this season, four series races have produced four different winners.

Leading the way into the event is 17 year-old Tanner Swanson of Kingsburg, CA. The sophomore sprint car driver heads the USAC Western Sprint Car point standings and is coming off his biggest career win in USAC National Sprint Car action May 21st at Anderson, IN. Swanson was also the most recent USAC Western winner at Altamont Motorsports Park (May 17th).

Shane Hmeil, Brian McClish, and Ryan Burdett are the others that have reached the checkered flag first in USAC Western Sprint Car feature racing.

Swanson will be challenged at Roseville by his closest pursuer in the points - Nick Rescino Jr of San Francisco. Swanson leads Rescino by a scant five points at the "quarter-pole" of the 2008 season.

Other entrants sure to be a factor include five-time USAC champion Tony Hunt from Lincoln, CA, as well as Eric Humphries, Jo-Jo Helberg, Greg Anderson, Porter Smith, Chase Scott, Shauna Hogg, Tim Skoglund and many more.

Hunt is off to a poor start by his standards and is hoping to rebound at the paved All-American Speedway - which also happens to be the closest racetrack to his Placer County home.

The pit gate opens Saturday at 1:30, with the front gate swinging open 4. The first racing is scheduled for 6PM. Additional divisions racing include the Spectator Racing Series plus Focus Midgets, NCMA, Mini Cup, and Baby Grands. Front gate adult admission is $15, seniors over 61 will pay just $5, and children 6-11 are also just $5. ####
