GRAHAM, Washington – The HayWire Motorsports team and the #68 KMB Design Groups / Print-NW / Ringers Gloves / Mauritsen Enterprises Toyota Camry was on hand for the 2008 Limited Late Model Racing Series’ second event on May 24th at Wenatchee Valley’s Super Oval.

The #68 team looked dominating in early practice, making small adjustments to fine tune their race car. “I am very happy with the way we rolled off the trailer,” said driver “Terrible” Tim McDougald, “I’ve never been here before and we didn’t have a lot of time between the last race and this one to do setup, so it was kind of a guess when we left the shop. To have a car that good right of the trailer is a testament to my crew, they are the best.”

With a strong qualifying effort, the team placed the #68 KMB Design Groups / Print-NW / Ringers Gloves / Mauritsen Enterprises Toyota Camry firmly in the Trophy Dash and sent a message to the rest of the field that they were a major contender for the Main Event. “I thought we had the fast time after that run,” said McDougald, “It was a great lap, but John (Boyatt) just beat us. That’s ok, I’ll take second on a track I’ve never seen before any day. The real race is the Main Event.”

After an uneventful Trophy Dash that saw a new young driver score his first LLMRS trophy, the #68 team headed into the Heat Race. The real excitement began on lap 2 as McDougald tried to make an outside pass on another car. The two cars would contact each other, sending McDougald and his #68 Toyota Camry hard into the wall, ending his run. “I thought I had it there,” said McDougald, “I had a great run coming off of 4. But I guess we both had the same piece of real-estate in mind, and it didn’t work out like I had envisioned.” McDougald would be helped back to the pits by the WVSO safety crew and receive a complimentary ride on the wrecker.

After a lot of hard work and determination, the team made repairs to the #68 KMB Design Groups / Print-NW / Ringers Gloves / Mauritsen Enterprises Toyota Camry, and McDougald was given a handful of safety laps to shake down the car. After what would prove to be a very impressive safety lap session, McDougald returned to the pits to ready for the Main Event only to be derailed by bad weather as the rain began to fall. The remainder of the nights events would be cut short as the rain would not stop. “I’m pretty bummed about the rain there at the end,” said McDougald, “the guys worked pretty hard to fix the car. Pretty much the whole front end was junk. I really wanted to go out there and show that we were not done. I feel like we let another one get away there, but you can’t control the weather.”

Look for the #68 KMB Design Groups / Print-NW / Ringers Gloves / Mauritsen Enterprises Toyota Camry to get back on track as the HayWire Motorsports team continues their run in the 2008 LLMRS season. And be sure to catch the #92 RPM Sales & Service / Old West Graphics / Ringers Gloves / KMB Design Groups / Mauritsen Enterprises Pontiac Grand Prix on the Whelen All-American series schedule at Evergreen Speedway.
