NEW SPONSORS JOIN LEWIS HEADING TO PACIFIC RACEWAYS

SNOHOMISH, Washington–Gary Lewis Racing LLC heads to the second event of the 2008 ASA Northwest Tour with momentum on their side after a huge victory in Montana two weeks ago in the Big Sky 150 on the ARCA West Late Model Challenge Series and two newly signed sponsors ready to stand in victory lane come Saturday afternoon.

Branded Events & Promotions Inc. CEO, Tracie Brandenburg, approached Lewis with returning sponsors eager to back a three-time late model touring series champion. Frontline Security of Kent, WA and Sunbelt Rentals of Tacoma, WA will be primary sponsors of the No. 73 for the Pacific Raceways event and two races later this year.

“Both of these companies are excited to be on board for this race and the July 26 and September 20 ASA races in Monroe, WA to be held on the .675-mile oval at Evergreen Speedway,” Brandenburg said.

Lewis is excited to have two regional companies join forces with him for a run towards his second road course victory of his career.

“It’s really cool to have these two companies that are at the top of their game come on board as we’re running at the top of our game,” he said. “We’re really looking forward to doing the best we can and providing some great exposure to everyone that is behind this race team.”

Frontline Security offers on-site and off-site security for companies and events throughout the Northwest.

Sunbelt Rentals is a provider of rental equipment ranging from generators to light towers, pumps and much more.

Lewis has competed before at the tricky Pacific Raceway road course including a start in the NASCAR Northwest Series where he led to the half-way break and built a five second lead prior to a mechanical issue that forced the team to the pits and out of contention for a win.

This weekend the Frontline Security/Sunbelt Rentals Chevrolet Monte Carlo will be able to stretch its legs at speeds approaching 185 mph–something that has not happened since 2006, Lewis said.

“Basically we are taking our NASCAR tour car and converting it into a road course car after running a couple of times last year in Yakima. It requires a major overhaul that’s for sure,” he explained. All of the cars suspension, brakes, transmission and much more will be changed to be ready for the weekend.”

Another challenge for the Sign Factory USA pit crew will be setting the car up without the aid of past event notes, Lewis explained.

“Unfortunately most of our road course notes and many of our parts were burned up in my parents house fire last year. The good thing is that we remember most of what we did to be competitive down there and changes we’ve made to the cars over the last year will make this Monte Carlo faster come Saturday.”

Challenges are the buzzword around the team as Lewis’ spotter, Chuck Pickens, will be competing this weekend alongside the Frontline Security/Sunbelt Rentals team. With Pickens focused on his own endeavors, Lewis is pondering how to fill a vital role, he noted.

“It’s a great question; so far we haven’t lined up our spotters for the weekend. Normally you need three of them at Pacific and right now we’re trying to find exceptional people skilled in that area to get us through. It sure has been a challenge so far but we should be fine come Saturday.”

As the team works towards the road course weekend, Lewis has mapped out his remaining June events with an eye towards three of the Northwest’ biggest late model events.

“Our plan is to compete in the ARCA West Late Model Challenge Series race at Wenatchee on June 21 then began planning to defend our wins in the Montana 200 and Idaho 200 plus it’s been far to long since we ran at South Sound Speedway and we’re real excited to be going there for the Miller 200 on August 9,” the defending ARCA series champion said.####
