EVERGREEN SPEEDWAY RESULTSEVERGREEN SPEEDWAY
Date: 06/22/2008
After heat races were finished the 8:00 o'clock hour brought the main events to the grid on "USG night presented by Seattle RV". The Speedway Chevrolet Super Stocks main event was a real barnburner as the lead changed hands often and the action was all around the tough 3/8's mile oval. Stordahl was battling point's leader Naima Lang for the lead before a flat tire sent Lang to the pits and Stordahl continued. On a subsequent restart Jeff Knight started outside Stordahl with Evergreen's famous double file restarts in effect. John Zaretzke made contact with Stordahl and a caution flag flew. Jeff knight hung on to win his first ever Super Stock main event and was cheered long and loud by the crowd. Kelly Mann drove his tail off to finish second followed by James Mugge third. Mike Holden after having to start at the rear of the field did an outstanding job finishing fourth with rookie of the year candidate Steve Ptacek rounding out the top five.
Another first happened in the Les Schwab Tires Bomber Division as Joe Kneeland drove into the lead and refused to relinquish it to a hard charging Jim Foti. Foti, the point's leader, tried every way possible but Kneeland kept a handle on his car to claim his first win. With Foti second, Jill Lang, defending champion Lane Sundholm and Frank Cowgill finished third through fifth respectively.
Pawn X-Change Super Figure Eights ran nearly flag to flag with just one caution and lots of "intersection". It looked good for Quinton Borreson until defending champion John Carlson caught him. With Ricky Deitz shadowing Carlson through the field it came down to the last five laps. Troy Seminar and Michael Barnes followed Borreson, Deitz and Carlson to complete the top five. It was Carlson's fifth victory of the season.
Mark Weedin was a man possessed as he dominated the heat race and the main event. Chuck Richard could only watch and remain in contention finishing second behind Weedin. The battle is still very close in the division with Richard, Andrew Schukar and Michael Fritz along with Dale Creager pressuring the point's battle. Race Results -- 06/21/2008
