INFINEON HEATS UP AS HARDIN PUSHES FORWARD

SONOMA, California – The sun was blazing hot this weekend as the NASCAR Camping World and Sprint Cup Series raced around the 1.99-mile road course at Infineon Raceway. Track temperatures reached around 115 degrees but the drivers didn’t sweat it.

Eric Hardin, driver of the No. 5 Direct Shopping Network Chevrolet, was running a strong race and moving up front quickly until he was spun out and fell back a few positions. Hardin started pushing forward once again, however there weren’t enough laps left in the race to get up front.

“We had a really good run going there for a while.” Hardin said. “It was just unfortunate that I got spun out.”

Hardin’s pit strategy to take fuel and tires early in the race seemed to pay off as he advanced through the field. Hardin was able to save fuel during the 12 cautions of the race allowing him to stay out while others came in for fuel.

“I knew how far our car could go on fuel but the cautions really didn’t do much for our strategy since everyone else was able to save their equipment during those laps as well.” Said Justin Holechek, crew chief of the No. 5 Direct Shopping Network Chevrolet.

There was a lot of contact during the Bennett Lane Winery 200 presented by Supercuts as competitors banged all over each other to gain and maintain track position. One competitor even flipped over four times after hitting a rumble strip off balance.

Hardin will head to Toyota Speedway at Irwindale on July 4th for his last scheduled race due to lack of budgets. If you would like to inquire about sponsoring Team Hardin Racing, please go to www.erichardinracing.com and send us an email.

The Bennett Lane Winery 200 presented by Supercuts will be replayed on SPEED Channel on July 7, at 9:00 am PST.
