A TOP TEN FISHISH FOR ROOKIE JAMIE DICK

SONOMA, California– Motorway Motorsports and rookie driver Jamie Dick of Albuquerque, New Mexico, competed hard and with perseverance and a little patience took a 6th place finish in the NASCAR Camping World Series – West , Bennett Lane Winery 200 at Infineon Raceway.

Starting 21st out of 41 put us in the middle of the pac, but Jamie was happy with that being the highest qualifying rookie to start. “Our main goal was to stay out of any wrecks and to finish in one piece, and if we do that then I believe we can finish in the top ten,” stated crew chief Mike Naake.

On lap 21 pit row was open on a caution and we came in for a short stop – fuel only. Running with an open motor, strategizing when to come in for fuel is very important on a road course. So we had a choice, pit early for fuel and bank on cautions later on for positions, or gain positions first and pit later for fuel. A little gamble, which paid off big in the end.

On lap 50, Jamie running 7th escaped a wreck without damage that occurred in turn 11, passing the two cars that were involved, placing him in 5th place. Racing hard till the end, Jamie finishes with his career best in 6th place. As well as, Jamie was the highest finishing rookie for this race.

When interviewing Jamie after the race he was asked a few questions being that this was the first time he had ever raced at Infineon Raceway as well as a road course.

Q: So what do you have to say about your race weekend?
A: The crew did a great job! The pit stops and the strategy that was used for the whole weekend, all went good.

Q: So did you like the track? Being that it was your first road coarse race?
A: I like any track that I finish well at. (smile)

Q: What is your opinion of road coarse racing?
A: Tough…you race yourself more than the cars.

Q: What was your best moment?
A: It was when I passed two cars in turn 11 and getting the 5th position.

Q: What didn’t you like about the race?
A: Red flags… that was tough , too many yellows and the spin I had early on in the race in turn 11.

All in all the crew and driver were very pleased with the outcome at Infineon Raceway. We have worked hard this year, and on other occasions we have ran well some in the top 5 spots. We just couldn’t seem to get a break, flat tires and other issues. Just bad luck. We’re hoping the next half of the season gets turned around and maybe the streak of bad luck is broken. Next race for Motorway Motorsports and Jamie Dick is July 4th at the Toyota Speedway at Irwindale. Which airs live on HD Net.####
