ASA NORTHWEST SPRINT CAR SERIES 7TH RACE OF THE 2008 CHAMPIONSHIP SEASON JULY 5THDate: 06/30/2008
Everett, WA – June 30, 2008 - The American Speed Association/Northwest Sprintcar Racing Association (ASA/NSRA) drivers and teams continue their quest for the win and the points championship. July 5th the ASA/NSRA teams will descend upon Wenatchee Valley Super Oval (WVSO) once again to battle for the night’s checkered flag and to gather the ever-valuable points towards the 2008 season championship! Having 20 or more winged sprint cars battling for positions, trying to earn every point possible provides for unparalleled excitement on the quarter mile paved oval! The Wenatchee Valley Super Oval is currently a quarter mile medium banked paved racetrack. WVSO will provide the ASA/NSRA cars with a tighter track to get around than the three-eighths mile Douglas County Speedway just two weeks ago. This race will complete the first half of the 2008 championship season. Only forty-eight points separate the first six places in the points standings. Current point leader Matt Hein leads by just fifteen points over second place Andy Alberding. The two teenage drivers competing in the Northwest Sprint Car Series hold down fifth and sixth in the season points. The first half of the teen-machine, Cory Lockwood is just forty-four points out of the lead and only four points behind Cory is the second half of the teen-machine Sierra Jackson, she being forty-eight points behind the leader. With the potential of earning seventy points at each race the top six could change in Wenatchee ! Expected at WVSO are current points leader Matt Hein driving the # 98h car, the 2007 ASA/NSRA season champion Andy Alberding, currently second in the points championship by just fifteen points in the #76 car, third in season points Jake Mann in the #51 car, fourth in points Justin Mack in the #17 car, fifth in points Cory Lockwood in the #99r car, sixth in points Sierra Jackson in the #25j car, seventh in points R. J. Fronsman wheeling the #25z car, eighth in points Greg Middendorf in the #4 car, ninth in points Adam Roduner in the #82 car, and tenth in points Jeff Montgomery, the 2006 ASA/NSRA champion in the #33j car. Others expected to compete are Ken Hamilton, Rick Brown, Todd Coleman, Robert Beck, John Tharp, Jeff Bird, Mike Fought, Brian Smith, Allen Goetz, Kurt Myers, Dan Fisher, and Whitney Nolan.& nbsp;
ASA/NSRA is the most exciting opened wheel racing on the west coast and by far the fastest. NSRA drivers currently hold 20 all time track records at venues throughout the region. These are open wheeled, winged sprint cars running on paved ovals utilizing 750 horsepower alcohol-burning engines running on tracks that vary in length from quarter mile to five-eights mile facilities.
