UNITED NISSAN RACING AND DARREN YOUNG ARE READY FOR THE CHALLENGES OF THE ORANGE SHOW SPEEDWAY.ASA SPEED TRUCK CHALLENGE
Source: Dave Grayson
![]() The ASA Speed Truck Challenge Series, ASA-STC, will be travelling to San Bernardino this Saturday, July 5th, for 100 laps of high energy racing at the always challenging Orange Show Speedway. While the two lane track always provides plenty of exciting, not to mention tight door to door, racing it's something that United Nissan Racing and driver Darren Young are used to and will be prepared for this Saturday night. The Las Vegas based team will be bringing their #18 United Nissan-Sudden Impact Chevrolet Truck to the Orange Show Speedway with the express intent of picking things up where they left off. At the May 24th ASA-STC race in San Bernardino United Nissan Racing finished one-two. A special guest driver, Texas based Chris Buescher, won the race with Darren Young right behind him in second. Also on that same evening Young proved that he knows the Orange Show Speedway like he knows his Gilbert-Arizona address. During qualifying he toured the quarter mile paved oval with a lap of 13.884 seconds. Not only was that the fast time for the evening but it was also a new ASA-STC series record for this track. Darren Young is a two time series champion who has already served notice that he's looking for the three-peat. He has been a model of consistency this year. So far in seven series' events his worst finish has been a sixth. Going into Saturday night he has one win, April 26th at the Lucas Oil I 10 Speedway in Blythe, and has also compiled six top five finishes along with seven top tens. That level of consistency has placed him on top of the series points standings but it's a tight points race that is still too close to call. Young is currently 13 points ahead of the hard charging Todd McLauchlan. Championship points in this series are always an important commodity. But, during the course of the Orange Show Speedway race, points will be doubly important. The ASA-STC has designated this event as one of their double points races and the final outcome of the race could have a huge impact on the championship picture.
That's just one more challenge that will make the members of United Nissan Racing rise to the occasion. They have already risen to that level four times this year. In addition to Young's victory in April, Chris Buescher has won twice in the second team truck and former series champion Matt Jaskol has put the team in victory lane. A simple case of math tells you that's four wins in seven races. See Also .: News Index | E-mail to a Friend Article posted by RacingWest.com staff on 07/01/2008. http://www.racingwest.com
