TOYOTA SPEEDWAY AT IRWINDALE’S CALIFORNIA HIGHWAY PATROL 200 JULY 4TH CELEBRATION FEATURES TWO NASCAR RACES, FIREWORKS SHOW AND MUCH MORETOYOTA SPEEDWAY AT IRWINDALE

![]() IRWINDALE, California – TOYOTA Speedway at Irwindale promises a 4th of July celebration that will not disappoint fans who attend Friday’s event. Fireworks will be flying on and off the track with two exciting feature races scheduled for the California Highway Patrol 200 event including the NASCAR Camping World Series West 200 lap race and the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series Auto Club Late Model 100 lap race and a spectacular fireworks show.
Friday’s race marks the midway point in the 2008 NASCAR Camping World Series West season with six races in the books and six remaining including a return visit to TOYOTA Speedway on August 16. Eric Holmes of Escalon, Calif. leads the series standings with 971 points including three wins on the season. Mike David of Modesto, Calif. occupies second place with 969 points including one win and four top five finishes. Jason Bowles of Ontario, Calif. is in third place with 905 points including a win and four top ten finishes. Austin Cameron of El Cajon, Calif. is in 4th place with 874 points and leads the series winners at TOYOTA Speedway with five victories. Cameron will also be making his 100th series start.
Auto Club Late Model division leader Andrew Myers of Huntington Beach, Calif. will perform double duty on Friday night. Myers will attempt to increase his 356 point total by racing in the Firecracker 100 lap Late Model race and then get behind the wheel of his West car to race in the 200 lap main event. Nick Joanides of Woodland Hills, Calif. has closed the gap to 14 points between him and Myers, aided by top three finishes in six of his last seven Late Model races.
Fans are advised to arrive early at the Speedway to partake in and view a variety of scheduled activities. Event title sponsor California Highway Patrol will have its recruitment center and specialty vehicle display at the track for fans to view. During pre-race ceremonies which are scheduled to get underway at 6:30 p.m., the nine-vehicle CHP Precision Driving Team will perform on track maneuvers.
Facility sponsor Toyota Motor Sales, U.S.A. and the Southern California Toyota Dealers Association will have their NASCAR Motorsports display present for fans to view which includes Tony Stewart’s No. 20 Home Depot / Joe Gibbs Racing Camry show car. Those fans arriving early with an appetite will be able to eat sample size Johnsonville bratwurst cooked on the Giant Grill Powered by Tundra. The Giant Grill is 18 feet long, 12 feet high and 8 feet wide.
Before the start of the NASCAR Camping World Series race, a KC-135 Stratotanker, which provides the core aerial refueling capacity for the United States Air Force, will make a rare public appearance by flying over the Speedway during the National Anthem.
Spectator gates open and qualifying begins at 4 p.m. The King Taco fan appreciation autograph session with drivers, crews and cars will take place on the track beginning at 5:45 p.m. Green flag racing action begins at 7 p.m. followed by the fireworks show.

Ticket prices for the July 4th event are: Adult general admission, $15.00; Seniors, $12.00; Youngsters (6-12), $7.50; Kids (5 and under), free (free ticket is required); reserved seats, $35.00. Auto Club of Southern California members receive a 10% discount off of the purchase of up to four (4) adult general admission tickets for Saturday oval track races when they show their AAA membership card. Restrictions may apply.
