POSITION ONE CONTINUES TO IMPROVE

BALDWIN PARK, California – Position One Continues To Improve

After some unlucky breaks, the Position One Motorsports group returned to the Toyota Speedway at Irwindale looking to finally catch a couple of lucky breaks for Round #11 of the NASCAR ACDelco Super Late Model series. Position One driver Luis Martinez Jr (#03-KING TACO), who hails from the karting and open wheel racing worlds, has been impressive in his stock car debut, finding himself tenth in the point standings with 218 points, just 34 points away from ninth. If Martinez was going to gain ground this weekend he would have to claw through stiff competition and earn every position on the track. The talent and speed the eighteen year old from Long Beach has shown that he is more than capable for the task.

Qualifying: While not in the 100 degree mark, Saturday qualifying conditions at the track was once again dominated by hot temperatures. With a black drivers suit in the black #03 KING TACO car it was under difficult conditions that Martinez took to the track. Enduring it all Martinez was able to put up a very good time and by the time the session was over he was fourteenth on the sheets. Feeling good about the car and their chances, the team went right into race prep mode.

Race : As the hotness of the day dissipated into a cool Summer Southern California night ,Martinez lined up on the grid ready for the start of the race. At the start, Martinez immediately slotted into the twelfth spot fighting alongside Stephen Peace # 77. Battling back and forth, both Martinez and Peace were soon joined by Matt Hicks # 28. On Lap # 19 Martinez and Peace got together in Turn # 4. That contact resulted in the first caution of the race. Martinez would restart in the fourteenth spot. Perhaps the most exciting racing began on Lap # 24 when Ross Strmiska # 21 and Martinez both provided the crowd with side by side racing. Martinez continued to show speed and by the last couple of laps he was able to pass David Ross # 57 and Jeff Eshleman #66. With the race winding down, Martinez would cruise on to finish the race in the 15th spot

Position One Motorsports other sponsored driver Randel King has absolutely exploded onto the scene. For this race King has once again shown he is a force to be reckoned with on the track by finishing this weekend's race with a career best finish of fifth.

In the 2008 points chase, Position One stays solid with Martinez remaining 10th in points with 240 points while King stays in 8th with 302 points.

Position One Motorsports will compete again on July 12th when the twelfth race of the NASCAR ACDelco Super Late Model series is scheduled to occur.

Luis Martinez Jr – Driver: “ We gave it our all this weekend. While we were not as successful as we would have like to have been or knew we could have been we continue to learn. Learn more about us as a team, about the car, and about racecraft and overtime I know the pieces and results will come our way. I'm grateful to our sponsors King Taco, Molecule, and Pepsi for their continued support”.

About Position One Motorsports: After competing in the Formula TR Series in 2007 and 2006 and finishing 3rd in the Championship both years, Position One Motorsports enters the 2008 racing season looking to continue its success as a participant in the Whelen All American NASCAR Weekly Racing Series events at Southern California's Irwindale Speedway and Camping World West Series.
