WARN HAS SIGHTS SET ON TOP TEN

AURORA, Oregon - For Jim Warn, driver of the MJ2 Racing Chevrolet on the NASCAR Camping World Series, the second half of the NASCAR Camping World Series season holds a lot of promise for the Sunoco rookie competitor. Fresh of a solid 12th place performance at Infineon Raceway two weeks ago, he knows a top ten finish is within his grasp at Toyota Speedway at Irwindale (CA) this Friday night.

“Irwindale is going to be an interesting place to race and I am very excited about actually racing there,” Warn stated. “We tested really well and I have watched races there but there is no substitute for the actual race. The track runs a little different than last year as I am finding out from guys that have run there before. More cars will likely run in the middle groove of track, so I think you will see a lot more passing on the bottom.”

Throughout his rookie campaign, Warn has passed every test he has encountered and looks to capitalize on that experience. Through six races he has only one DNF at Phoenix where he finished 25th. Other than Phoenix, his worst finish is 15th and his best is 8th. Toyota speedway is a place where a young driver can excel.

“I think we have a top five car for the race this weekend,” Warn said. “Irwindale is like no other track because you can run so many different lines and still run the same time. Irwindale is a real momentum race track I enjoy racing on these types of tracks because it puts a lot of emphasis on the driver about being consistent with your braking and all your inputs. A lot of positions can be lost in the next corner if you screw up the previous one. The trick is not to make those mistakes.”

Warn drives a team car to Jeff Jefferson and is sponsored by MJ2 Racing, Gran Prix Imports, and Leupold Optic. The car is powered by a Chevrolet NASCAR Spec Engine and sits atop a Hopkins chassis. Warn is in his rookie campaign on the NCWS and has six career starts with one top ten finish this season. Warn is currently tied for second in the Sunoco Rookie-of-the-Year standings and tied for 11th in the overall driver standings after six races, just ten points out of the top ten.

The California Highway Patrol “200” at Toyota Speedway at Irwindale is round seven of the 13-race NASCAR Camping World Series-West schedule for 2008. The race will be televised live on HDNet with the green flag slated for 8:10 pm (PT) and set for an enhanced reply on SPEED Channel July 18 at 1:30 pm (ET). 2008 is the 55th year of competition for the NASCAR Camping World Series-West.####
