ON THE RACE SCENE WITH GREG BENNETT - EVERGREEN

Advantage Motorsports joins a number of other raceteams in anxiously anticipating a return to the .646 mile Evergreen Speedway and another season of competition in the highly regarded Raybestos Brakes Northwest Touring Series.

Car set-up for the super-speedway of the Northwest is critical, but Greg Bennett driver of the No. 98 Motorsports entry knows it is also going to require patience. After several months of working on cars and getting ready for the Sno-Country 125 that may in fact be the hardest part of the race. Considering last weeks showers led to a week long postponement of the orignally scheduled event, there is a lot of horsepower ready to make a charge!

The Monroe, Wash. race is scheduled for this Saturday, April 7th. It is an opportunity to be a part of the most thrilling NASCAR action to be found in the Northwest and a chance to meet a bunch of great drivers, teams and perhaps future stars of the NASCAR Winston Cup Series. Be sure to stop by and say "Hi" to the Bennett-Palmer gang! They would love to meet you.

RacingWest: How did you spend your winter vacation?
Greg Bennett: Well we spent our winter readying the car and rebuilding our team. We are now in a great position to obtain our goal of high finishes and wins on the tour.

RW: How did you get started in racing?
GB: We started in the Bomber class at Evergreen and eventually moved to the Super Stock class. Since Evergreen's Super Stock is really a tour car it was only natural to step up to the Tour in 99.

RW: What are your goals for the 2001 season?
GB: Our goals for the 01 season are to win some races, finish every lap on the lead lap and to place in the final top five.

RW: Could you explain to the fans that cannot travel to Evergreen Speedway a little about the track's characteristics?
GB: Evergreen is a .646 mile track that has fairly flat corners. 1-2 is different from 3-4 and set up is critical. It is the fastest and largest tracks we race in the North West.

RW: What is the key to passing at Evergreen?
GB: The key to passing is handling. Handling in the corner is critical.

RW: What does it take to stay out of trouble at Evergreen Speedway?
GB: The key to staying out of trouble is patience, and having a really good spotter.

RW: What will it take to win the Sno-Country 125?
GB: Winning at Evergreen takes staying out of trouble, and tire management.

RW: What is the best part of racing the Northwest Tour Series?
GB: The best part of the Tour is the camaraderie among the competitors. These guys are the best of the Northwest and a great group to race with.

RW: Where can the fans find you at Monroe for driver cards, autographs, appearances, etc.?
GB: We will be in the pits so come on down and enjoy the racing and fine people at the track. ####
