POINT SPREAD THIN AT SOUTH SOUND

June 5, 2002.This Saturday, June 8th at South Sound Speedway, the Late Model Super Stocks and Top Notch Trailer Street Stocks will be on hand to keep the NASCAR Weekly Racing Series, presented by Dodge, alive. The Hinkle Home Pure Stocks and MMRA Super Mini-Cups and Future Stars will also be zooming along the 3/8ths mile, paved oval.

Word is that the 2001 Late Model Champion, Randy Dalebout, will be back in action this weekend with a shortage of crew members but all the strength of last season. Points leader, Ray Wallace will try to make it three wins. After last race, Wallace has been the only repeat winner thus far in the season. Only 24 points separate the top five.

In the Top Notch Trailer Street Stocks, the top five have a 52 point spread. Chad Hinkle, the only repeat winner in the division, leads over Bill Manney, JJ Hamilton, Jim Jussila and Brad Borton. Hamilton and Borton are the only two in the top five to not have a win. Each has been consistent and will surely have theirs in the coming weeks.

Ties in the Hinkle Homes Pure Stocks are making for a dramatic season. First is tied with David Dix and Dan Rhodes. Both are rookies in the division. Also tied for 10th are Mark Rorvik and Tim Vermillion. A mere 33 points are spread over the top five in this class. Besides Dix and Rhodes, there are Mike Osborn, Brandin Fisher and Curt Moon vying for the front position.

Patrick Phillips leads the MMRA Super Mini-Cups. Close behind him are Chris Davis, Scott Moore and Chris Bell. The top running rookie in this class is Mike Pierce. Cody Stewart leads the Future Stars but Cougar Stewart and Brooke LeFor are very close.
