AND THE RACE IS ON AT MESANASCAR SOUTHWEST SERIES
Source: RACINGWEST.COM INSIDERS
Lap 150:Doug McCoun won a long overdo victory! Way to go Doug! It appears Auggie Vidovich's bad luck is behind him with a nice podium finish. MK Kanke was rumored to be feeling poorly at the end of the race possibly feeling like he was going to pass out. Hang in there MK! There was some questions on the scoring of the 48 car of David Gilliland. Another caller said that the 88 was allowed back out on the track during the final stages of the race and slicked down the track. These are all just rumors. We are sharing what we have heard, not validating any of it. Lap 134: The red is out. The No. 88 of Rocky Nash had problems and oiled down the entire track. The front running cars of Holtz, Lamar, Kanke along with some other cars spun. New leader is Doug McCoun. Lap 115: Approximately lap 115 Dan Holtz began a pass on Raudman coming out of turn four and completing it in turn two. Raudman fell back, and slowed bringing out the caution. The current race leader is Holtz with Lamar second and Kanke third. Lap 75: Halfway and Lamar is still in the lead with the No. 2 of Craig Raudman, and the No. 98 of MK Kanke in hot pursuit. Of course, what is a race without controversy? Rumor is when the Tour cars tested at the track they did not have the tires supplied by Goodyear. But the 98 car was able to secure tires directly from the plant and did a long run one night. True or false? You decide. Points leader McKean is struggling with mechanical problems while Sean Woodside is barely hanging on to the tail end of the lead lap. Will the No. 98 win? What will be the impact on the points? Stay tuned. Lap 8: Burney Lamar is still leading the FireCracker 150 under yellow conditions. The 16 car piloted by Tony Toste got loose coming out of turn four and hit hard into the wall. As a consequence of the accident 4 cars were collected trying to avoid the wreck all sustaining major damage. The cars involved were the No. 69 of Rod Johnson, the No. 73 of Scott Busby, the No. 10 of Nick Joanides and the No. 37 of Keith Spangler. It is unclear at this time if there was contact to the 16 car or if it just got away from the driver.
