Tenino, Washington --The NASCAR Weekly Racing Series, presented by Dodge, also brought Gatorade Night to South Sound Speedway's paved oval. The Late Model Super Stocks, Top Notch Trailer Street Stocks and the NW Legends and Bandoleros kept the action moving.

Angela Cope blew the rest of the competition away with her 14.71 qualifying time in the Late Model Super Stocks. Cope had to start the dash on the back row but passed Chad Hinkle, who was pulling double duty in the Late Models and the Street Stocks, to finish third. Bob Presley led all four laps to win. In second was Amber Cope.

Dan Obrist started on the pole of the first main event and never gave up the lead except for two laps (7 and 8) where Obrist and Presley were driving hard together and Presley got the spot at the line. Obrist shielded him off to win the main event that was plagued with six different cautions. The first came after almost one lap. Nick Behn, Amber Cope, and Willy Thom all got together. Major damage was caused to both Thom and Behn. Behn took his car in the pits but thanks to his fast crew, lost no laps. Unfortunately for Behn, it was more damage than could be fixed and he had to pull off again at lap nine. Cope and Thom kept on the track. On lap 15, Eric Tibbitts slowed and lost a lap then exited on lap 16. A yellow was thrown on laps 17 and 18 for clean up. Lap 19 and 20 were cautioned when Jim Clair got into the wall. On lap 24 another yellow was flown for Willy Thom spinning and collecting Bob Presley, who was running second. Presley lost a lap in the pits and Thom lost a lap on the track. Yet another caution was thrown on lap 30 when Amber Cope, Tim Gosch and Chad Hinkle got together. Hinkle and Gosch both lost a lap on the track and Cope exited. One lap later, Hinkle followed into the pits. While all this action was happening, Dan Obrist didn't lose his concentration. He stayed in front with Roger Drake, Mike Olson and Randy Dalebout following in his line. The final caution came on laps 48 and 49. Ray Wallace, Angela Cope and Willy Thom got together. Cope had to be towed off, Wallace and Thom each lost a lap. The green and white were thrown at the same time and it was a race to the line won by Dan Obrist. Rounding out the top five were Roger Drake, Mike Olson, Randy Dalebout and Mike Obrist.

Mike Obrist and Amber and Angela Cope didn't start the second Late Model Super Stock main event. When the rest of the pack attempted to start, Bob Presley and Jim Clair got together before all the cars took the green. More damage was done to Willy Thom's car. Clair and Presley went off the track but came back on before they lost any laps. Jim Clair and Chad Hinkle took their cars around on lap four so a yellow was throw for laps five and six. Hinkle went off the track and lost one lap to the pack. On lap nine, Willy Thom spun again after a tire went down on his car and took it off the track. Mike Olson led from lap one and fought off Randy Dalebout for two laps, then Dan Obrist for 12 laps. On lap 13, Ray Wallace passed Obrist for the second spot. While coming out of turn four, Wallace and Olson tangled taking them both into the wall. Wallace was done for the night but Olson lost one lap and continued to race. Dan Obrist led Roger Drake for 5 more laps before Nick Behn pulled into that second spot. It only took Behn three laps to pull in front of Obrist for the top spot. On lap 26, Obrist ran high and Bob Presley got under him for the second spot. A yellow was thrown on laps 37 and 38 for Eric Tibbitts spinning Jim Clair. Tibbitts was given a black flag and penalized one lap. On laps 44 and 45, Tibbitts and Clair got together again. Clair went off the track and lost three laps. The pack ran all green to the checkered where Nick Behn won and Bob Presley came in second. Third was Dan Obrist. Fourth and fifth went to Roger Drake and Randy Dalebout.

The Top Notch Trailer Street Stock class boosted its car count as Joe Swanson, Dan Woodward, John Owenby and Tom Richmond joined this weekend. This was the first time out this season for Woodward and Owenby. Richmond had been one other time earlier in the year but broke during practice. Swanson was returning from a thumb injury that occurred a few months ago. Not making it out were Brad Borton and Jim Jussila. Jussila is taking the time to put his motor back together carefully and Borton has major work to do after slamming into the wall last time out.

JJ Hamilton clocked on with the fastest time. The dash consisted of David Patrick, Tom Richmond, John Owenby and Scott McNeil. Patrick dropped out early so it was all Owenby all the way. On his first night out, Owenby scored the dash win and the B-heat win, leading both races for every lap. JJ Hamilton won the A-heat race with Chad Hinkle in second. Bill Posh had the pole for the main but as they came around for one to go, he pulled his car into the middle with a broken rear end. The line moved up and Joe Swanson had the pole. Swanson jumped to the lead. Following behind him was Dan Woodward and Bill Manney. John Owenby had mechanical problems and left on lap four. Manney began to smoke after and was mechanically blacked on lap six. On lap eight, a yellow was thrown because Manney's car caught fire. It was put out quickly and all was clear for the rest of the race. Now running in third was JJ Hamilton. On lap 13, Hamilton passed Woodward and on lap 14, he got the lead from Swanson. Swanson held on to that second position but soon, Chad Hinkle passed him for the spot. Hamilton had a commanding lead over the rest of the field and no one could catch him. Hamilton won the main with Hinkle in second and Swanson in third. Fourth was Bobby Micielli and fifth was Dan Woodward. Mark Boehi, Kreg Kadoun, Scott McNeil, Tom Richmond and David Patrick rounded out the top 10.

Duane Swanson clocked in the fastest time for the NW Legends. Rob Hawton won the Semi-Pro dash, Dennis Fromm won the Master dash and Rich Spooner won the Pro dash. Rob Hawton kept his streak alive by winning the Semi-Pro heat race with Louis grant in second and Jeff Harris in third. The Semi-Pro main event ran quickly and smooth. Jeremy Sabin took the lead for two laps but the Rick McNeill again took over the lead and dominated the Semi-Pro division. McNeill came in first with Hawton is a close second. Third was Jeff Harris and Louis Grant was fourth. Billy Weber, who spun in qualifying started on the pole of the Master/Pro heat race. He took the lead and didn't let go of it. In second was Rich Spooner and Garrett Haxby was third. In the Master/Pro main event, A yellow was thrown before a complete green for Garrett Haxby and Tony Carabello getting together. Both left the track as well as Dave VanAmburg. Carabello was back with one lap down and VanAmburg was back with two laps down and Rich Spooner led the race with Duane Swanson in second. On lap four, Swanson spun Spooner around resulting in Spooner going to the back and Swanson getting a black flag. Billy Weber took over the lead with Tony Williamson in second and Bob Kronenberg in third. Spooner worked his way back up to fourth spot. On lap 17, Tony Carabello took Martin Rosler around, and got a black flag. No yellow was thrown for the incident. The race finished just like that with Weber in first. Williamson, Kronenberg, Spooner and Dennis Fromm finished the top five.

It was a great night for the Bandoleros but a bad night for Craig Derksen. Derksen started out the night by almost missing qualifying. When he did make it, he was the fastest. Bradley Shaw broke his car in practice and was unable to make it for qualifying, the dash or the heat. In the dash, Rudlidge Boykin took away with the lead to win. In the heat race, Andrew Caddell did the same thing. Derksen was a close second to Caddell with Mitchel Ferderer in third. Justin Jackson was unable to make the heat because his car broke in the pits. Now it was time for the main and the kids were pumped. Bradley Shaw's parents took his car and got it fixed so he could run the main event and Jackson's crew had fixed his ride also. It seemed to be a typical Bandolero race with Derksen getting a commanding lead over the rest of the field but with only two laps to go, Derksen hit the wall in turn four and began to slow and took his car off the track. This left Mitchel Ferderer wide open for a win. This was the first main event into two years that Derksen had not won. Ferderer was first with Andrew Caddell, Bradley Shaw, Rudlidge Boykin and Justin Jackson in tow.
