MADERA California -- Dave Byrd made it two for two so far at Madera Speedway this season in the Ultra Wheels Super Trucks series. After winning Friday night in a dirt Grand American Modified at Watsonville Speedway, Byrd used his veteran driving skill to mentally switch back to not only driving on asphalt, but also driving a completely different type of race car to move onto victory.

Brian Araki of Clovis California led for the first third of the race and then was challenged by Byrd on a restart that happened on lap 10. For the next 7 laps, they raced side by side until lap traffic impeded the progress of Araki which in result caused him to fall too far behind to challenge for the lead again.

Central Series points leader Kevin O'Niell finished a close third to Araki followed by Mark Holman in fourth and Mike Lay in fifth.

In the Toyota Modfieds, Don Smith was once again successful in finishing first from the last starting position in his feature. Smith was the fast qualifier, but a full invert required him to grid in the last position.

Smith made his final move of the night after a caution slowed the field on lap 16, allowing Smith to reach the leader Kris Terris, who at the time had a healthy lead before the yellow came out. Smith used the restart to get by Terris five laps later to move onto victory.

Next weekend, Smith will once again have to start from the rear as he becomes the third driver this season to fall under the "two race win" rule which states that if you win two consecutive races that you will start last.

Les Wasson's victory in both the main event and the trophy dash tonight helped him gain on a struggling Frank Mazzei in the Pure Stock points standings. Wasson was in a side by side battle for the lead almost the whole race with rookie Phillip Connonly who finished second.

Eddie Secord and Chuck Scott traded places in the final finish in the Pro 4s feature compared to the last time they raced here. This time, it was Secord that ran away with the race instead of the former track champion Scott. ####
