WEATHER TAKES ROUND TWO AT PORTLAND SPEEDWAYPortland Speedway
Source: Portland Media Relations
Portland, Or. April 14. Rain throughout the day and a forecast for more of the same forced a cancellation of Portland Speedway's Fast Friday racing program. Every attempt will be made to make up the NASCAR Weekly Racing Series Late Model events during the course of the speedway's compressed pavement season. Each event is critical for the late Model competitors as they vie for their chance as the final asphalt track champion at the historic facility. Portland Speedway Late Model competitors also have their eye on the NASCAR Weekly Racing Series Great West Regional crown vacated by Portland's Darren Shaw who has moved to Mooresville, NC to further his racing career. Tony Schmidt of Newberg, OR currently leads the chase for this year's title over last week's winner Brandon Riehl. NASCAR will again reward drivers for their consistency, win percentage, and number of starts, when determining this years regional and national NWRS champion through the competition performance index. The next event on Portland Speedway's calendar is April 21, as NAPA Auto Parts presents "You Could Win A Million" Night at the Races featuring the NASCAR Weekly Racing Series Late Model Stock Cars and Exide Shortrack Limited Sportsman on the monster half mile oval, plus the Accel Street Stocks and the first Appearance of the year for the Figure 8 cars. Every adult 18 years or older will receive a scratch card from NAPA which could be worth a million dollars, just scratch and win.
