MCVEY CHARGES FORWARD AT EVERGREEN SPEEDWAYNASCAR ELITE DIVISON, NORTHWEST SERIES
Source: ThorGroup
![]() MONROE, Washington -- Rookie driver Jim McVey rushed forward from a 24th slot start to finish in 13th place Saturday night in the the NASCAR AutoZone Elite Division, Northwest Series at Evergreen Speedway in Monroe, WA. After qualifying for a starting position nearly at the rear, within laps McVey began to advance his #11 Snap-On Tools Chevrolet. By lap 20 he had moved up five slots on the 3/8Th's oval, and by lap 40 he was in 17th place. On a track still damp from an earlier downpour that threatened to cancel the race, McVey continued to slowly move forward in the tight race dominated by yellow flags. By lap 80 he found the opportunity to move into 15th place, finally finishing the contest in 13th place, only a few seconds behind winner Jason Jefferson. The yellow flags slowed down his advance, but McVey expects to provide strong competition through the season. Two weeks ago at Tri-City Raceway an accident put him out of the competition in the 103rd lap. With 24 of 27 cars running at the end of the contest, the going went smoother for many of the drivers than at the Tri-City's competition when only 15 of 25 cars made it to the end.
McVey will be racing next at Yakima Speedway on May 29. Click on www.thorgroup.us for additional information. See Also .: News Index | E-mail to a Friend Article posted by RacingWest.com staff on 05/13/2004. http://www.racingwest.com
