BENNETT PREPARES FOR SHOOTOUTWhile the Northwest Series takes a 2 week break, Travis Bennett wont be taking any breaks as he heads to Irwindale Speedway to compete in two consecutive weeks of late model racing. Bennett will be behind the wheel of a late model car fielded by Bob Casaro with the help of Gary Collins.

Bennett raced last weekend at Yakima Speedway where things didn't quite go as planned. The DS racing crew went into the event last weekend 2nd in points where they had been the majority of the season. The #33 Bowmans Electro Painting/Zebs Truck Stop/Knudson Lumber Chevrolet was among the top cars in practice and proved that with a 4th place qualifying effort. A 6 car invert put Bennett on the inside of row two for the green flag. All indications were good until the race started and it was apparent something just wasn't right. Bennett slipped as far back as 11th before stabilizing a position. A few cautions slowed the race and when green flag racing continued the tires started to come in and Travis was able to gain a few positions before the checkered flag flew. Travis came home 7th, losing his position in points by one point. "We totally missed the set up at Yakima which is frustrating because we also lost a points position, but we are going to take the next few weeks to shake the car down and we will be ready for Tri-Cities," said Bennett.

The season is coming to a close with only 3 events left and with the points battle heating up, its bound to be a close race to the finish. "This is what I expected for the end of the season. Everyone wants to make it to Irwindale and also into the top 5 in points so things always tend to get close at the end."

Travis will be back behind the wheel of his #33 Chevrolet at Tri-City Raceway on September 4th for the final stop there. Currently 3rd in points Bennett will be looking to improve his points position as well as his 2nd place finish last time at Tri-City Raceway.####
