LADY LUCK RIDING WITH NAVA AT LAS VEGASASA SPEED TRUCK CHALLENGE
Source: All American Motor Sports
![]() LAS VEGAS, Nevada -- Lady Luck must have been co driving with ASA driver Ron Nava at the Bullring Saturday night. After one of those days you wouldn't wish upon your worst enemy The Lawrence Building and Design, Scott's Automotive, Racing West Speed Truck walks away with a very convincing 5th place finish. " The day started off bad and only got worse until the drop of the green" says Nava after the event. After getting only two laps of practice on race day the # 72 team had no idea what would happen next. When Nava took to the track for qualifying the nightmare began as he posted a 17th place effort. " The truck was so bad during qualifying we knew the set up was a throw away. So we looked at the sheets from two years ago and went to work hoping we had everything we needed" . the two hour break after qualifying as agonizing for the team as they could only hope for the best. In his pre race interview for the Outdoor Channel Nava said he needed some serious help and he got it. Starting from the 17th position Nava made his way through the field slowly and around lap 20 the Hoosier tires came in and the truck was great. at lap 35 contact with slower traffic forced Nava sideways down the front straight and though the middle of turn one before gathering the truck back into the racing line. After several side by side battles and a few well placed yellows Nava and the Racing West team walked away with a top 5 finish in as many starts. " We are pleased to have given Janet and the Racing west team a top 5 on their fist race with us, It was all luck and a little patience, As I watched the trucks in front of me I just tried not to make my mistakes in the same spot, and kept alot of pressure on them. Im headed to the hotel to place a bet on red".
Watch for Ron Nava in the # 72 ASA Speed Truck on the Outdoor Channel on Oct 6th @ 6:00 PM. See Also .: News Index | E-mail to a Friend Article posted by RacingWest.com staff on 09/06/2004. http://www.racingwest.com
