WREN JR. SUFFERS BAD LUCK IN THE RACINGWEST.COM 125 AT MESA MARIN

Lloyd Wren Jr. drove his #16 Sully and Sons Hydraulics, Chevy Monte Carlo at Mesa Marin Raceway for the October Classic Late Model event, The RacingWest.com 125.

Wren Jr. Runs the late model division at Mesa Marin Raceway on a regular basis and hails from Bakersfield, Ca. Wren Jr. earned 15 top 10’s in 17 events and a 5th place in the final point standings.

Wren Jr. Entered the event hoping for a solid top 10 finish as he is use to when racing his Late Model at Mesa Marin Raceway on Saturday nights. The Saturday event of the twin 40 qualifying races started out good for Wren Jr. As he qualified 16th quick with a lap of 20.213 out of 41 qualifiers. Wren Jr.

Started 8th in the second of the two qualifying races. A red flag came out on lap 1 in turn 1 for a incident involving the #8 of Mike White, #08 of Candace Munzy, #25 of Dan Digiamarino and # 30 of Bryan Herzog. On the restart Wren Jr. Was 9th as another caution came out for the #93 of Jameel Saied and #19 of Jimmy Sloan as the two got together in turn 3 resulting in Saied backing into the wall , on lap 2. Wren Jr. would restart 8th and maintain a hard fought 8th place finishing position putting him in a 14th starting spot for the RacingWest.com 125 on Sunday afternoon.

29 cars gridded and took the green flag for the highly anticipated $3000 to win Late Model event. On the initial start Wren Jr. Was caught in the outside lane behind the #07 of Butch Gilliland, and Wren Jr. Slid back some positions until the low lane was clear. On the fifth lap a caution came out for the #24 of Robbie McLaughlin as he spun coming out of turn 2 in a single car incident.

The restart would come on lap 8 with Wren Jr. In 16th. Again Lloyd Wren Jr. Is stuck behind Gilliland but quickly gets by the #07 of Gilliland when on lap 17 the #40 of Eric Richardson hit the turn 2 wall as a result of three wide racing with the #48 of Mike Lay and the #28 of Shane Thomas going into turn 1. Wren Jr. Restarted 14th and by lap 30 was running a solid 11th when another caution came out on lap 48 and Wren Jr. would be on pit road on lap 48, under caution, with apparent mechanical issue’s but rejoins the race on lap 49, as the second to last car running on the race track. Wren Jr. would stay on the track and make laps until lap 74 when he pits and the crew raises the hood. Wren Jr. Took his car behind the wall and to his pit as his race was over with apparent engine problems.####
