Perris, CA --

Having lost the CDCRA Pro Division point lead to Jim Scribellito at the previous race in Ventura, defending champion Seth Wilson scored a clean sweep Saturday night at Perris Auto Speedway and cut the point lead to just 2 points. They both pulled the same heat race and Wilson passed Scribellito to win that event. Wilson started front row in the 20 lap main event with Scribellito lining up 12th as the previous race winner. Wilson led wire to wire, but a caution with two laps to go gave the challengers one last shot. Wilson hung on for the win over Arizona invader Jesse Chinn, Scribellito and Angel Figueroa. Senior division point leader Gary Ebeling had a last place finish in his heat, but rebounded to win their feature race ahead of former champion Steve Denham and Don Robinson.

The Pro division had 25 entries to race on the half-mile Perris track. In the first heat, Scribellito started in row 2 with Wilson in row 3. Scribellito got to the front first, but fell victim to an inside groove run by Wilson as Wilson won ahead of Scribellito and Brian Saxton. Former champion Rob Anderson got to the checkered flag first in heat 2, but failed to report to tech and was dropped to a last place finish with Arizona's hottest driver Chinn winning over Figueroa and Scott Newton. Jason Tomlinson debuted a new Lynch built dwarf truck with a win in heat 3 over visitor Marc Teixeira.

Rob Brown was the only driver unable to start the 20 lap feature, leaving a crowded 24 car grid. J Tomlinson and Wilson shared the front row, Scribellito had the 12th spot reserved for the previous race winner and Anderson had to tag the lineup. Wilson took a quick lead over Chinn and Figueroa. J Tomlinson got tangled up with Nate Robinson for a no caution spin. After just six rounds, Scribellito had advanced to sixth. Fourth ranked point racer Chuck Lippert was blackflagged for clipping a cone on a restart when he tried to avoid contact with a slowing Anderson, who had blown a tire. Robinson blew a motor and Bruce Fanshaw spun. While the race had several yellow flags, the final one on lap 18 gave challengers Chinn, Scribellito and Figueroa a shot at leader Wilson. Wilson protected the low line with only fourth place Figueroa trying to find a route up high. Despite a backfiring engine, Seth Wilson posted the win with Chinn second over Scribellito and Figueroa. J Tomlinson had a good run in his new mount with a fifth ahead of Bob Brown Jr, Brent Stevens, Bill VanPraag and Mark Heinold.

The Senior division action had 14 entries. Defending champion and recent Ventura winner Gary Lynch won heat 1 over Gary Conditt and Mike VanAcker. Denham won heat 2 over Don Robinson and Ed Niedzwiecki. After a last place heat finish, point leader Ebeling had to come from the rear to win their feature ahead of Denham, D Robinson, Jim Koch, Walter Boyd, George Sack Jr, Lynch and Conditt. Mike VanAcker was fifth across the finish line, but failed to go to tech and was disqualified.
