FAST TIMER VANKEUREN WINS CYCLELAND TURKEY RACE

Chico, CA -- Fast timer Austin VanKeuren won Saturday night’s Turkey Race feature for the Open Outlaw Karts at Cycleland Speedway. Chuck Herman beat VanKeuren in their heat race and he then ran second in the feature ahead of David Shingle. Pete Johnston was one of five Open Outlaw entrants that arrived in time to tag the main event after racing earlier in the day at Silver Dollar Speedway and he ran a solid fifth behind Donald Gramps. Rudger Worley settled for second fast time behind Anthony Orgain in the 125 Intermediate class, but then raced to wins in both the heat race and feature. Cody Miller ran second ahead of Orgain and another late arrival Mason Moore. The Box Stock class had six teams arrive after racing at the fairgrounds track and they ended up finishing in five of the top six spots. Cycleland track champion Kyle Larson was one of them and came from the rear to win the Cycleland feature after winning the A Main at Silver Dollar just a few hours earlier. Nevada’s Mackena Bell ran second ahead of Christian Steele. Bell had finished 3rd in the day show.

VanKeuren was the quickest of the 17 Open Outlaws that were on hand at time trial time with a 10.895 lap. Brandon Aldred from Oakley had a 11.062 and Herman ripped off a 11.215. Herman beat VanKeuren and Josh Zander in heat 1 with Aldred the winner of heat 2 ahead of D Shingle and Shawn Amos. Johnston, Justin Reinolds, Ryan Flynn, A J Kerns and Michael Tarter were the five late arrivals who tagged the 22 kart main event. VanKeuren, Herman and D Shingle used up front starting slots to take the top 3 spots in the main event with Gramps coming from the middle to place 4th. Johnston repeated his fifth place run at the day show to finish ahead of Jim Mathews Jr and Aldred. Reinolds ran 8th ahead of Kayla Amos and Tim Manning.

The 125 class had 9 entries at time trial time and the field grew to 12 for their main event with the late arrivals. Orgain nipped Worley for fast time honors with Grady Sauer third quick ahead of C Miller. Worley was the heat winner with Dillon Aldred second ahead of Emalee Ramirez. The three late arrivals were Silver Dollar winner Austin Kerns, 3rd place Moore and 5th place Brian Southers. Worley won the Cycleland feature ahead of C Miller, Orgain, Moore, Aldred, Southers, Nic Mathews and Ramirez.

The Box Stocks had 14 karts at time trial time and improving Cameron Bartlett was quickest at 12.647. Tyler Seavey was second fast at 13.093 and David Lee turned a 13.339. Bartlett also won the first heat in front of Lee and Dalton Worley. Tristan Miller won the second heat with T Seavey second. Jake Morgan left Silver Dollar early and made a heat at Cycleland, then called the other teams and told them that they could tag the main event. Towing in for the feature were Larson, Bell, Steele, R J Johnson and Jake Cartwright. Larson charged to his second feature win in a few hours with Bell second ahead of Steele, Lee, Johnson, Cartwright, T Miller, Max Adams and T Seavey.
