FRONSMAN, TAYLOR AND SEALS ON TOP AT MANZANITA

Phoenix, AZ -- The race weekend at Manzanita Speedway concluded with the Ralph Hertel and Marie Gray Memorial race for the super stocks on Saturday night. The track champion at both Manzanita and Canyon in 2002, George Fronsman raced to this win ahead of current point leader Kenny Gill and Larry Price. Crowd favorite Bobby Taylor won the pure stock main event ahead of Ron Poe and Ty Warner. Taylor and Poe run 1-2 in the point standings. The Friday night racing was topped by a huge dwarf car field. Travis Seals made it two straight feature wins ahead of Chris Snyder and Chris Ricker. Donnie Birmingham beat Brian Bennett in the Claimer main and Randy McCrory outdueled Aaron Rider for the bomber main event win.

There were 22 super stocks in the pits for the special show, but both Larry Brigner and Dale Wall broke in the heat action and scratched from the main event. Gills point lead starting the night was 16 over Anthony Madrid and 23 ahead of Fronsman. Madrid was the dash winner ahe adof Fronsman and Don Costa. Fronsman won the first heat with Dave Erickson second. Joe Sarginger won heat 2 ahead of Costa and Mike Lilly. Madrid beat Gill and Matt Lundy in heat 3. The 20 car main went to Fronsman ahead of Gill, L Price, Erickson, Jeff Price, Sarginger, Crystal Reynolds and Madrid. Taylor brought a 62 point lead over Poe into the nights racing and the factory stocks had 23 cars in the heat action. Poe beat Clifton Maggard in the dash. C Maggard then won heat 1 over third ranked Terry Mumaugh. Jason George took heat 2 over John Reynolds and Poe beat Ed Crabtree in heat 3. Reeve Staley and Corky Warner were both main event scratches as 21 cars took the green flag. Taylor won with Poe second ahead of Ty Warner, Mumaugh, Ryan Roath, Crabtree, Jerry Lee and Paul Arseneau.

29 dwarf cars raced on Friday night and Show Low racer Pat Henesey won the dash over fellow mountain resident Matt Lund. Heat winners were John Priest, Ricker, Snyder and Sandy Matthews. Kevin Stalbaum won the B Main ahead of Greg Loper, Coby Cook, Richard Hoelzer and Russell Hardy. Seals had run third behind Ricker and Casey Cain in his heat, but he won a second straight main event ahead of Snyder, Ricker, Art Garcia, Roger Dvorak, Cain, Lund, Tim Jones, Matthews and P Henesey. The 13 Claimers were divided into two heat races and Chris McCurdy won the dash ahead of Richard Pino. Ben Shepherd beat Birmingham in heat 1 and Robert Husted won heat 2 over Pino. C McCurdy had problems in the feature with an 11th as Birmingham won ahead of Bennett, Shane Savage, Shepherd, Jeremy Kimble, Ron Neis and Pino. The bombers also fielded 13 cars. Sheila McCurdy beat Randy Allen in heat 1 and Roger Smith won heat 2 over General Law Jr. McCrory was third in that second heat and he won the main event ahead of Rider, Leo Dupree, S McCurdy, Paul Brown Jr, Allen and Shawn Biessel.
