After a four car inversion placed her on the pole for the 30 lap main event, Bakersfield's Shannon McQueen was never headed as she collected a wire to wire win in the Modified Mini Sprint 600 class Friday night as Plaza Park Raceway opened the two-night Giant Automotive Summer Clash. Seventh starting Craig Kleinhans advanced to 2nd in 14 laps and finished there ahead of Scott Martin. The Stock Mini Sprint 600 class had a six car inversion and Chad Boespflug debuted a new Pace Chassis by racing from 4th starting to the lead in four laps. He then fought off the challenges of fast timer Kody Swanson over the final 25 laps to collect the win. K Swanson ran second ahead of Paul Javaux. A four car inversion in the Restricted Mini Sprint 600's put Tanner Swanson outside front row. He grabbed the lead at the green flag and was never headed in that 20 lapper. Fast timer Justyne Hamblin was a race long second with Lemoore star Michael Faccinto placing third. The Junior Sprint 20 lapper ended on a lap 19 red flag when San Diego visitor Taryn Rowles flipped end for end several times. Mitchell Faccinto gained the win over Jordan Silva and Britney Turner. A straight up start had placed Mitchell Faccinto on the front row. All four divisions had visiting teams that swelled the overall car count to 66 cars.

Todd Hirasuna was the quickest of the 19 Modified Mini Sprint 600's with a 10.82 effort. Anthony Kerber had a 10.95, Stan Yockey a 10.98 and McQueen a 11.04. Kerber and Scott Martin drew the front row assignments for the dash and Martin won with Kerber second. Heat wins went to fourth starters Yockey and Kerber along with 2nd starter C Kleinhans. The four car inversion for the 30 lap feature put McQueen and Yockey in the front row ahead of Kerber and Hirasuna. McQueen took a quick lead over Yockey and Kerber. The first yellow fell on lap 4 as Rob McMillan stalled and third place Kerber pitted. C Kleinhans gained third on the restart and Rex Jorn climbed into the top five behind Hirasuna. Knute Mynderup crashed for a lap 10 yellow and Martin claimed fifth on this restart. It was a rare night for Yockey as he failed to finish either of his feature races. He stalled for the lap 13 yellow flag. On the restart, McQueen led C Kleinhans, Hirasuna, Martin and Jorn. Audra Sasselli and Doug Moles tangled for a lap 15 yellow. Kaylyn Kleinhans drew the last caution on lap 23. McQueen stayed out front for the whole race with C Kleinhans in second. Martin made a late move into third as Jorn ran fourth ahead of Hirasuna, Ryan Reeves, Gary Winter, Sasselli and Heather Moles.

K Swanson was the quickest of the 15 Stock Mini Sprint 600's with his 10.75 qualifying run. Jason Mattos was just a click back at 10.76, Boespflug ran a 10.96 and Yockey a 11.05. K Swanson and Yockey drew the front row for the dash and Yockey won with K Swanson second. Mattos came from 4th to win heat 1 over Yockey and Jason Okajima. Pole starter Javaux won heat 2 with K Swanson second ahead of Boespflug.The six car inversion for the 30 lapper put Okajima and Dean Alexander on the front row ahead of Yockey, Boespflug, Mattos and K Swanson. Car builder Alexander led the first 3 laps. Ryan Reeves and Rodney Jared tangled for a lap 2 yellow and Okajima pitted. Boespflug went underneath Yockey for second on lap 3 and he took the lead from Alexander on lap 4. Jake Hagopian spun for a lap 5 yellow and Alexander had to pit with a flat left rear tire. K Swanson raced into second on the restart ahead of Mattos and Yockey. Javaux shuffled Yockey back to fifth on lap 9 and Yockey fell out when Kirk Wilson spun for a yellow flag. The final yellow flag fell on lap 27 as Mattos spun. Javaux moved up to third and chased winner Boespflug and K Swanson to the checkered flag. Reeves ran fourth ahead of Eric Westra and Chase Mack, the final lead lap finisher. Wilson was the final car running at the checkered flag, one lap down in 7th.

Female ace Hamblin paced the 14 Restricted Mini Sprint 600's with her 11.86 run. Michael Faccinto usually limits his racing to the Saturday nigtht action in Lemoore, but he came to the special and timed in second quick at 11.94. Tanner Swanson had a 11.99 and Cory Eliason ran a 12.00. Dace Taylor and Jenna VanderWeerd drew the front row for the dash and Jenna VanderWeerd won with third starter Michael Faccinto second. Laura Lopez won the first heat from the pole with fourth starter Michael Faccinto second. Richard VanderWeerd also turned a pole start into a win in heat 2 with T Swanson second. The four car inversion for the 20 lap main put Eliason and T Swanson on the front row ahead of Michael Faccinto and Hamblin. T Swanson raced into the lead over Hamblin and Eliason with the only yellow flag falling on lap 1 when Mieka Cochran spun and got hit by Derek Henderson. Michael Faccinto raced into third on lap 4. The leaders ran in order to the checkered flag with T Swanson winning ahead of Hamblin, Michael Faccinto, Eliason, R VanderWeerd and Jenna VanderWeerd, the final lead lap finisher. Lopez was 7th ahead of Jace VanderWeerd and Ramona's Kelsey Newman.

The Junior Sprint count exploded to 18 cars and Mitchell Faccinto was fast timer at 14.34. Jordan Silva had a 14.40 and Cody Key a 14.49. Carson Macedo and Silva shared the front row for the dash and Silva won with Macedo second. Pole starter Allisen Cochran won heat 1 over Alexandrea Raiskup. Dustin Rhodes turned an outside front row start into a win in heat 2 with Silva second. Britney Turner won heat 3 from the pole as Mitchell Faccinto ran second. Kellen Araki pitted before the green flag in the 20 lap feature. Mitchell Faccinto started on the pole and raced into the lead over Sivla, Macedo adn Kolby Araki. Rhodes took over 4th on lap 2 and Macedo stalled for a lap 5 yellow flag. The Macedo retirement left Rhodes third ahead of Steven Kent. Turner raced into fifth on lap 8 and leaped to third on lap 12. The race ended a lap early with the huge flip by San Diego visitor Rowles. On the red, Nicholas Bachant crashed hard into Mark Cypert. Both Cypert and an infield official had to be transported to the hospital to be checked out. Mitchell Faccinto won ahead of Silva, Turner, Shane Myhre, Rhodes, Kent, Cochran and MaKenzie Zinger.
