Fallon, NV -- It has been a tough season for lawyer Steve Evenson in the IMCA Modiifed action, but he scored a clean sweep of Saturday nights action at Rattlesnake Raceway. Evenson won his heat race and then outraced runaway track point leader Robert Miller for the feature win. Evenson does stand third in track points, but he is 60 tallies behind Miller and you can only earn 40 points a night in the IMCA divisions. A former sprint 100 racer who moved through the IMCA Modified class last season, Mike Darnall swept the street stock action with wins in his heat race and the main event. Rob Grace was second ahead of point leader Scott Deutsch. Hawthornes Bob Vaden won the bomber feature in front of Brian Milburn. The Gen X class chased a special $400 to win award this week and that pulled several Fernley Pure Stock Compact drivers to give the class 15 entries. Fallon regulars Glenn Lee and Donn Sheldon finished 1-2 while usual Fernley modified mini racer Dennis Crook borrowed a car to run third.

The IMCA Modifieds had an 8 car turnout and Evenson beat teenager Steve McGee in heat 1. Miller outdueled Shawn Marlow in heat 2. Tony Taylor was a feature scratch and Evenson won with Miller second ahead of Wayne Richards, McGee, McGees grandfather Bob Boles, Bill Smith III and Marlow. Smith III is second in track points, 49 behind Miller and 11 ahead of Evenson. The street stocks had a solid 12 car turnout and Darnall beat point leader Deutsch in heat 1. Grace beat visitor Brian Kerby in heat 2. In the feature, it was Darnall again on top with Grace second ahead of Deutsch, Warren Morris, Gordon Hughes, Bob Fish, Kerby and Troy Harris. Dick Rogers was a main event scratch. Morris drove the Rich Baum car while Baum was subbing in wife Lisas mount. The winner of the August 9th special Willie Ferrier ran 10th. Deutschs point lead is 14 over Harris and 17 ahead of Ferrier. Darnall is fourth, 4 points back of Ferrier.

The 14 Bombers were divided into a pair of heat races. Milburn beat point leader Shannon Morris in heat 1 and Ken Mayes won heat 2 ahead of Inlow. Vaden had run third in the heat action, but the veteran racer won the main event ahead of Milburn, Inlow, Ken Gotchal, Morris, Wes Washburn, Royce Montgomery, Brian Kaster and Mayes. Female racer S Morris holds a 16 point lead on Gotchal and Mayes is 21 points out of first. Lee also enjoyed a perfect night in the Gen X action as he won heat 1 over Crook and Steve Singley. Nick Reid won heat 2 over Sheldon and Ahtrium Thunder. Lee and Sheldon were 1-2 in the feature ahead of Crook, Sam Cox, Jerry Roseland, point leader Ed Muise, Silas Howell and Singley. Sheldon won $300, Crook $200, Cox $150 and Roseland $100. Muise built his point lead to 35 over A Thunder with Sheldon another 9 points back in third.

The track has announced a special Bomber-Hobby Stock Challenge race on Sept 13. The 60 lap feature will require all teams to pit and change at least one tire without power tools in the infield on a lap 40 yellow flag.
