Fernley, NV -- Keeping his track title hopes alive, young outlaw kart graduate Conrad Wilson raced to his first IMCA Modified feature win Saturday night at Reno-Fernley Raceway. He was chased to the checkered flag by point leader Nick Rogers and Rogers will carry a five point lead over Wilson into the final month of action. Wilson is the son of Dennis Wilson, who raced for awhile in Winston West after a great stock car career at Watsonville, Merced, Madera and San Jose. Continuing to cut into the point lead built by California invader Craig Eubanks, Tony Lewis wheeled to his fourth street stock feature win and ended the night just 10 points back in the title fight. Impressive mini stock graduate Shawn Natenstedt ran second to improve his hold on third position in track points. While Blake Ramthun won his sixth hobby stock main event, second place finisher Richard Italiano cut Dean Clarks point lead down to just 4 points as Clark ran sixth. The battle for the title in the modified mini stocks also stayed close as point leader Stephen Crook beat point runnerup Jeremy Arnold in the feature action. S Crook improved his point lead from five points to 8 points with his clean sweep, but Dennis Crook fell from title contention with a 19th place feature run. Adam Richards won his second straight pure stock compact feature and improved his point lead over Jerry Roseland to ten points in the process. Richards has four wins in his rookie season.

The IMCA Modifieds ran a 15 car feature after Dean Cichowicz, Gene Kay and Scott Foreman all scratched. Wilson won the first heat with Shawn Marlow second ahead of recent Quincy Fair special winner John Sloan from Susanville CA. Defending track champion Rogers won heat 2 with teenaged Steve McGee second ahead of Cichowicz. In the feature race, Wilson won with Rogers second ahead of Marlow, McGee, Richards and Pahrump NV long tow Scotty Slatter. Darren Manning was 7th ahead of Sloan and Rick Davis. The street stocks had 23 cars in their feature after Robert Cramer scratched. Eddie Levan beat Curt Curtis in heat 1, Eubanks raced his Ford to a win in heat 2 over Tim Walker and S Natenstedt won heat 3 ahead of T Lewis. The six point leaders all finished in the top 8 spots in the main event as T Lewis won for the fourth time ahead of S Natenstedt, David Ellsworth, John Hood, Gary Nevers, Eubanks, Kenny Schmitt, Bob Neese and Kevin Mills. While Eubanks and T Lewis have checked out from the pack in the point fight, S Natenstedt, Nevers and Ellsworth are locked in a tight duel for 3rd. Jesse Gonzalez was disqualified from his feature finish in postrace tech.

As usual, the hobby stocks paced the way with 29 cars. Joe Specchio III, Clark and David Rauscher all won heat races. Only the top four in each heat advance and they are joined by six transfers from the B Main to fill an 18 car A Main lineup. Matt Potts started the night fourth in points, but missed transfering with a 5th in his heat and 11th in the B Main. Kevin Boles won the B Main ahead of Ramthun, Gary Bayne and Joe Specchio Jr. Ramthum then came from 14th to win the A Main ahead of Italiano, Specchio III, Jimmy Berhorst, Chris ONeill, Clark, Travis Peterson and Jason Chapman. It was Ramthuns sixth win and Clark ended the night 4 points ahead of Italiano, 22 ahead of Specchio III. The modified mini stocks ran a 20 car feature after both Danyale Urban and Bill Ferguson scratched. Robert Pearson won heat 1 over Justin McIlvain and Richard Scott. Kevin Knight put his mini truck in victory circle for heat 2 ahead of Dennis Crook. S Crook won heat 3 with Brandon Touchstone second. J McIlvain was also a post-race tech victim and S Crook outraced point title rival J Arnold for the feature win. Chris Oberman and Brian Coclich both enjoyed their best finishes with a 3rd and a 4th ahead of Pearson, Kevin Knight, Scott, Touchstone and Missy Natenstedt. The pure stock compacts ran a 15 car feature after Del Navrkal scratched. Roseland beat Josh Long in heat 1 and Richards won heat 2 over Aaron McIlvain. Richards then completed his perfect night with a feature win ahead of Roseland, Shannen Touchstone, Shawna Woosley, Kyle Arnett, Keith Pierson and Ken Arnett. Woosley is third in points, but 32 points back of second ranked Roseland.
