Lake Pleasant, AZ -- Grabbing the lead from Rick Ward at the halfway mark, Mark Fowler won his second straight 20 lap IMCA Modified feature at Canyon Raceway on Saturday night. John Walter ran third and Darin Center charged from 18th to 4th. Point leader Shawn Zelenka also put on a show as he started last in the 24 car field and advanced to a sixth place finish behind George Fronsman. The AMRA Midgets brought a 16 car field and 15 started their 20 lap feature. Eric Wilkins chased down R J Johnson and won his third straight feature. Johnson was in the Amy Maris car and he ran second ahead of Mike Courtney. Bonus money for the top four finishers on street tires grew the Arizona Dwarf Car turnout to 32 cars. Twenty were on the Hoosier tires and 12 on street tires. Dean Riggs was never headed as he won his second straight 20 lap feature over Jesse Chinn and Jeff Stafford. Of the 21 finishers, only 8 were on the lead lap and Tony Martin paced the street tire racers in 12th place. A short 8 car field of bombers ran a very competitive feature with Vince Outlaw leading wire to wire from the pole. Second traded several times before John Muller finished there ahead of Lonnie Horgen.

The IMCA Modifieds had a 25 car turnout, but no B Main was needed as Jay Parvin crashed hard in the heat action to leave 24 cars able to start their 20 lap feature. Brian Combs beat Dan Collinsworth in heat 1 and Fowler outraced Ward in heat 2. Super Stock graduate James Seaton captured heat 3 ahead of Mark Harrison and Dave Craft. Seaton paced the first four laps of the 24 car, 20 lap feature before having to pit with a flat tire. The caution flag fell four times on lap 4 before another lap was scored. Ward was the new leader ahead of Fowler and Combs. Collinsworth spun for a lap 7 yellow flag and Fowler got around Ward at the midway mark. With one lap to run, Kenny Wyman forced a yellow flag, but Fowler stayed in front of Ward for his second straight win. John Walter ran third with 18th starter D Center in third ahead of Fronsman, 24th starter Zelenka, Seaton, Combs, Guy Norton and Collinsworth.

Wilkins won the midget dash over Johnson and Adam Young. Mike Leslie outraced Young and Wilkins in heat 1 and Mike Welker got the heat two win over Johnson and Justin Fisher. Wheeling the Maris car, Johnson paced the first half of the 20 lap feature with minor yellow flags on lap 1 and lap 6. Wilkins drove around Johnson midway through the race and stayed in front through three more yellow flags. Johnson placed second ahead of Courtney, Bugs Norbury, Cole Houser, Fisher, Lyndsay Hilton, Leslie and Scott Neuvs.

The large dwarf car turnout was split into four heat races. Jerry Larrabee edged Kevin Hickson in heat 1 and Chinn won heat 2 over Brandon Echols. Riggs and John Priest were 1-2 in heat 3 and track owner Jeff Stafford won heat 3 over Martin. Clayton Echols won the B Main ahead of Jim Horton, Dan Yirku, Kenny Hodgkins and Richard Milton. The 20 lap feature was run with just a single yellow flag on lap 1 when Horton got into the front wall hard. Riggs took the lead at the start and was never headed. He was in lapped traffic on lap 5 and stayed there for the rest of the race as only 8 cars finished lead lap. All but three cars were racing at the checkered flag with Riggs the winner ahead of Chinn, Stafford, Larrabee, Priest, Hickson, Jim Ward and B Echols. Jeff Adams, Cam Muldner, C Echols and street tire winner Martin rounded out the top dozen.

Vijnce Outlaw won the bomber heat race over John Muller and Frank Outlaw. V Outlaw was on the pole for the 12 lap main and he was never headed as he took a quick lead over Scott Gunn. Muller gained second on lap 3, but Gunn got it back a lap later. On lap 6, Horgen took over second and Chuck Murray forced a yellow flag. With 3 laps to run, Muller regained second and chased V Outlaw to the win. Horgen was third ahead of Gunn, F Outlaw and Murray.
