J J HARPOLE STAYS HOT AT CORTEZ

Cortez, CO -- J J Harpole has been the hottest driver at Montezuma Speedway since they moved the dirt modifieds back under the IMCA Sanction on July 4th weekend. His Friday night victory gave him three wins, two seconds and a fourth in the six IMCA sanctioned races. He holds a narrow 8 point lead over Thunder Mountain Speedway point leader Robert Gallegos and is 10 points up on Doug Tiffany. This week, Gallegos and Tiffany finished 2nd and 3rd behind crowd favorite Dennis Reib. 2003 Aztec Speedway titlest Allen Bradley won the IMCA Stock Car main ahead of point runnerup Andy Hockenhull and point leader Michael Farley. Farley is just 2 points ahead of Hockenhull. It was a big night for Reib family as young rookie Cody Reib got his best feature finish with a 2nd in the Hobby Stock main event behind point leader Ed Mangum. Mangum paces the point standings at both Montezuma and nearby Aztec Speedway. The mini stock count grew to 8 cars and Zeke Sivers got the feature win over Gary Linker and Aaron Maurer.

The IMCA Modifieds fielded 12 cars this week including the first visit for Dustin Russell. Harpole got the feature win with D Reib second ahead of Gallegos, Tiffany, Saturday night Aztec winner Aaron Spangler, Olathe regular Dan Katzdorn, Ryan Spangler, Kelly Goodwin and D Russell. There were five IMCA Stock Cars and it was Bradley winning over Hockenhull, Farley, Dennis Spencer and Andy Hill. The hobby stocks fielded 7 cars and Mangum won with C Reib second over Jack Simlar, Kody Haun and Glen Rivas. Z Sivers posted the mini stock win over Linker, Maurer, Dian Sivers and Gabe Mondragon. Promoter Lonnie Oliver raced in the mini stock action, but his front end broke on lap 5 and he got tangled up with Charlie Davis.
