Las Cruces, NM -- After losing Friday night's win at El Paso to a last lap pass by teammate Sherman Barnett, Christy Georges rebounded in a big way by scoring a clean sweep in the Barnett's Harley Davidson dirt modified action at The Speedway of Southern New Mexico Saturday night. She won her heat race, the dash and the feature in her Bob Pierce built mount and Friday night third place finisher Jimmy Ray ran second ahead of Anton Salopek and former track champion Terry Tipton. Young Jonathan Burton had a big night as he won the feature action in both the super stocks and the street stocks. Rick Gallardo was second in the super stock main and Rick Ortega's third place run left him just 8 points behind track point leader Lloyd Duffey. Duffey finished fourth. The annual Goodyear Challenge race for the top super stocks from both El Paso and Las Cruces was held and college student Holly Jones picked off this prestigious win over El Paso point leader Rory Beiter and Gallardo. J Burton kept alive his slim hopes for the street stock championship with his feature win in that class over young Levi DeMartino and female point leader Cassandra Wells. Wells came out of the night with a 34 point lead on Mike Rosales and J Burton is one more point back in third. Rick Jackson repeated his Friday night El Paso win in the super trucks with track point leader Tom Georges second for the second straight night.

Several of the track's top dirt modifieds were racing a pair of $1000 to win shows at Hollywood Hills Speedway north of Albuquerque, but there were still 23 cars racing here. Alvie Williams won heat 1 over Scott Logston and Jay Rosales beat Brent Tibbs in heat 2. Georges started her clean sweep with a win in heat 3 over Salopek. Ray won heat 4 over Friday night winner S Barnett and Tipton. Track regular Lorne Wofford got both $1000 wins at Hollywood Hills and another track regular Johnny Scott was second both nights there. Georges then beat Ray in the dash. The feature win went to Georges ahead of Ray, Salopek, Tipton, track point leader Jeremy Payne from Tucson AZ, Logston, Royal Jones, Williams, Steve Jones and Jerry Garrett. While enjoys a big point lead in El Paso, his Las Cruces point lead is only 16 points over Ray with R Jones another 25 points back in third. Georges ranks fifth, 15 behind R Jones and 10 behind Logston.

The special Goodyear Challenge race for the super stocks had 9 entries and H Jones got the win ahead of Beiter, R Gallardo, Frank DeMartino, Ortega and J Burton. There were 15 cars in the regular night action and Donavon Ooley won heat 1 over Vince Melone. R Gallardo beat Alons and H Jones in heat 2. J Burton was last in his heat race, but posted the feature win in the former Ron Jones car ahead of R Gallardo, Ortega, Duffey, Gary Boles, Martin Robinson, Melone, H Jones and Tim Jackson. R Gallardo is third in points, 44 behind Ortega and a 78 ahead of Melone. The street stock feature had 24 starters after three heat races. Brian Gallivan won heat 1 and the dash. In the heat, J Burton was second ahead of El Paso regular Steve Dupree. M Rosales won heat 2 over L DeMartino and it was Bruce Brinkerhoff outracing Wells in heat 3. Wells edged out L DeMartino for second in the dash. The feature action went to J Burton ahead of L DeMartino, Wells, Dusty Riggs, John DeMartino, Brinkerhoff, Tony Bujak, Dupree, Larry Flores and Paul Burton. Previous week winner Patrick Beach was 24th and saw his margin over Dan Blazer in their fourth place point duel fall to just 12 points. The super trucks fielded 10 teams. Rex Porter beat Jackson in heat 1 and it was Garrett Alberson getting heat 2 over Jimmy Ray. Alberson also won the dash over Jackson, but Jackson got his second feature win of the season. T Georges ran second over Porter, Dennis Mitchell, Lloyd Turner and Cheryl Fox. T Georges' point lead is 58 over Alberson and 87 ahead of Jackson. Fox is fourth ahead of Mitchell.
