Ventura, CA --

Todd Keeter from Oak View won Saturday night’s season finale for the I-4 modifieds Saturday night at Ventura Raceway, but George Kreider wrapped up the division track championship in his rookie season. Kreider was the pony stock track champion in 1998. Kreider finished top five in 12 of the 13 point races to waltz into the track title. Brian Rader ran second to Keeter on Saturday night in a car that Kreider built.

Kreider would like to move into the track’s premier division, unwinged 360 sprint cars, in year 2000 if he can line up a sponsor.

Ventura’s own Wayne Heurung won the season finale for the street stocks and announced that he would be a sprint car competitor in 2000. Craig Germanetti wrapped up his track championship season with a second ahead of Greg Rapp and John Uccelini.

The pony stock main saw Santa Paula’s Darren Gunnell in a runaway win ahead of Jack Fullerton and Gary Yeates. Mark Fullerton had wrapped up that class’s point crown two weeks previous. These three champions join IMCA Sprint car titlest Kevin Kierce and IMCA Modified champion Donald Houghton as the track’s five division titlests. Kierce finished 75 points ahead of Chris Wakim and Houghton was just 28 points ahead of former champion John Aitken.
