Red Bluff, CA --
Four drivers repeated their opening night wins as the Red Bluff Indoor Winter Season ran leg 2 of a 14 race schedule on Saturday night. Only the dash eluded 12 year old Kyle Larson as he posted quick time for a second straight week and won both his heat and the feature in his Parker Store 125 Intermediate outlaw kart. He ran third in the dash. He was four seconds in front of heat winner Derek Copeland at the checkered flag in the 20 lapper with 12th starter Josh Keheley from Mariposa finishing third. All three of the QRC All Star Tour point leaders got feature wins as T McCain won his second straight Open Outlaw kart A Main and Keith Bloom Jr was victorious in the Open Intermediate A Main (see separate story). Tyler Reddick won two championships at Cycleland this summer and also was the Lakeport champion on Friday nights. He has remained red hot here at Red Bluff as the Corning 8 year old won his second straight 20 lap Box Stock A Main by 2.5 seconds over Jason Mittry. Casey McClain ran third. Cyle Allison pulled off a rare clean sweep in the Beginner Box Stock action as he turned quick time, won the dash, his heat and the feature. On opening night, only fast time had eluded him. Second quick David Lee was second this week to the Yuba City racer and third quick Chase Majdic ran third. After timing in fourth quick, Kevin Acosta raced to wins in both the dash and the feature for the F200 class. Defending champion Clarence Marshall ran second ahead of Mike Larson, the father of 125 star Kyle.
K Larson was quickest of the 20 125s with his 9.323, but that just nipped the 9.355 posted by David Chaves. Dillon Silverman ran a 9.442 and Brian Southers had a 9.511. Sixth quick Brad Patchen won the dash over Silverman and K Larson. K Larson won the opening heat race over Riley Gomes and Southers. Copeland showed his strength after a disappointing 11th quick qualifying run by winning heat 2 over Trevor Tennison and Chaves. Silverman won heat 3 ahead of rookie Kenny Allen and Patchen. Michael Forslund got the B Main win ahead of fifth quick Jonny Lentz, Keheley and Andrew Cumpton with Shane Graham just missing the move up into the 13 kart A Main. With a best lap of 9.607, K Larson ran away with the 20 lap A Main winning by four seconds over Copeland with 12th starter Keheley third. Lentz ran fourth ahead of last starter Cumpton, Southers, Silverman and Forslund, the final lead lap kart.
Chase Hill was quickest of 31 Box Stocks with a 10.482 qualifying run. Nevada’s Kellcy Bell ran a 10.505 and Jason Mittry had a 10.600. Rounding out the dash field were R J Johnson, Tyler Seavey and Reddick. Reddick won the dash from the pole with Mittry second ahead of Bell. In this class, the top 3 from four heats advance since the track allows them to start 16 karts in the A Main. Hill won the opening heat race over Nevada’s Zachary Heinz while Reddick added the heat 2 victory ahead of Andrew Anderson. McClain won heat 3 ahead of Nevada’s Jay Primm and it was Johnson taking heat 4 over Shane Hopkins. T Seavey ran fourth in his heat, but won the B Main ahead of Cameron Bartlett, Jacob Miller and Tony Marcos. Jake Morgan was the C Main winner ahead of Cameron Millard, Aaron Yetter and Bryanna Powers. The 16 kart A Main grid fills up the track and Reddick was again the 25 lap winner, 2.5 seconds in front of Mittry. McClain ran third ahead of Bell, Jonathan Hoheisel, Keyler Heinze, Z Heinz and Hill. The top 11 finished on the lead lap. Reddick’s best feature lap was a 10.468, but McClain was a tick quicker at 10.464.
Allison has a lot of experience in the faster box stocks at Cycleland, but wanted to race one more season in the Beginner Box Stock class at Red Bluff to chase the track title. He was quickest of the 24 entries with a 12.228 lap and previous week fast timer David Lee had a 12.317. Majdic turned in a 12.437 and rookie Richie Carrel was fourth quick at 12.486 Logan Seavey and Devin Lee also made the dash. Allison came from last to win the dash over L Seavey and Majdic. Allison also won heat 1 ahead of Brandon White and it was David Lee edging out his younger brother Devin Lee in heat 2. Lain Baker won heat 3 over Majdic. Reilly Gillingwater was the fourth heat winner ahead of Carrel. Nevada’s Mathew Robert is racing the Red Bluff schedule for the first time and he won the C Main over Zachary Yetter and Amelia London. L Seavey was the B Main victor ahead of Elizabeth Heinz and Taylor Matson with Zachary Rushing getting the final transfer up. With a best lap of 12.079, Allison won the 20 lap A Main by 2.5 seconds over David Lee. Majdic was third ahead of L Baker, E Heinz and final lead lap finisher L Seavey. Carrel was 7th ahead of Gillingwater.
Robert Norman was quickest of the 10 F200s with a 11.237 qualifying run. Steve Goodridge had a 11.285 and Marshall a 11.307. Fourth quick Acosta ran 11.385. Acosta beat Marshall in the dash and the lone heat race was won by M Larson ahead of Acosta and Norman. Acosta’s quick feature lap was a 10.862 and he outraced Marshall, M Larson, Jeremy Zirkle, Norman, Ashley Ruth and Gary Gabel for the win with Bob Morgan in 8th.
