UKIAH SPEEDWAY TRIES TO OPEN 2005 AGAIN ON SATURDAY

Ukiah, CA -- Another influx of our fickle spring weather forced Ukiah Speedway and all other Central and Northern California paved tracks to cancel their events last weekend, but Ukiah will make another attempt to start their 2005 campaign on Saturday night, April 30.

For the race fans, grandstands will open at the 1/4 mile paved oval at 5 PM and racing at 6:30 will follow the time trial runs. Admission prices are $10 for adults, $8 for Seniors 62 & Over and Children between 6 and 11. Kids 5 and under are always free. The track offers a family pass that admits two adults and two children for $28. Times for the race teams include pit gates opening at Noon, hot laps from 2-4 PM and 4:30 time trials.

The rain postponement of the April 16 race date forced the delay of the first appearance of the new CASA wingless sprint cars. That traveling series that runs throughout Central California and Nevada will visit the track on May 14, have a special Thursday date on June 23 and return on both July 16 and August 27. Another exciting 2005 development is the joint venture with Lakeport Speedway for a Red/White/Blue Modified mini series. Four races will be run at each track and a special series champion will be crowned. The Ukiah dates are May 7, June 11, July 9 and Sept 10. The first event in the series was the Lakeport season opener on April 16 and Thomas Wright was the feature winner. The always exciting tour late models will return on May 28, July 9 and Sept 3 before headlining the season finale Open Show on Oct 1-2.
