Chico, CA -- Having lost all of it’s earlier scheduled events to the weather, Cycleland Speedway raced for a second straight weekend on Saturday night and Tyler McCain had a near clean sweep in the Open Outlaw Kart class. He was quick time, ran second behind Kyle Larson in the dash and then dominated the 20 lap feature. Opening night winner Pete Johnston was second this week ahead of Colby Copeland. In the Open Intermediates, Tyler Reddick took full advantage of being 7th quick as he won heat 1 from the pole and then turned a pole start into the victory in the 20 lap A Main. K Larson made a late move around Mason Moore to finish second. Thomas Bruckenstein went the same route as Reddick, but had to work a little harder in the heat as he was only 11th quick so he earned the pole for the Intermediate A Main by winning heat 1 from third. Bruckenstein followed up a third last week with a feature win ahead of fellow front row starter Sean Martin, Reddick and division rookie Cameron Bartlett. John Giffin joined the sportsman action and was nearly perfect as he turned quick time, ran second in the dash and won the feature. After a 1-2 finish last week, Scott Burgess and Donnie Ritcheson were 2-3 behind Giffin this week. Skylar Tweedle followed up a third in the opener with wins in both the dash and feature for the Pro Box Stocks this week. Reilly Gillingwater ran second and last week’s feature runnerup Tony Rossi was third. Fourth quick Tyler Seavey won the Box Stock feature. He had run second to younger brother Logan Seavey in last week’s main. L Seavey was second this week ahead of Bartlett. Dalton Wilcox swept the Beginner Box Stock action with wins in the heat and feature. He ran second last week. Baylie Heauser was second this week as opening race winner William Seim ran fourth behind Michael Ing.
McCain was quickest of the 32 Open Outlaws with a 11.390 qualifying run. A J Kerns ran 11.399 and Jerry Johnson slipped into third with his 11.405 run. Opening night winner Johnston ran a 11.465 and the dash field was rounded out by Daniel Becker and double division racer K Larson. K Larson did claim the dash from his pole start ahead of a hard charging McCain, Johnston and Becker. Defending track champion Tyler Wolf earned the pole position for the A Main with a win in heat 1 after timing in 9th quick. Wolf ran fifth in the season opener the previous weekend. Another double division racer Camron Mendes was second in heat 1 over Austin Kerns. Female star Emalee Ramirez was 8th quick and won heat 2 over Copeland and David Tarter. Ramirez was fourth in the season opener. The top 6 from each heat joined the 6 dash karts and the top four from the B Main in the 22 kart A Main. Runner up in last week’s season opener, R C Smith was the B Main victor in front of John Michael Bunch, Nic Helwig, Ryan Everson, Mitchell Miller and Cody Smith. Sixth starting McCain wasted little time getting to the front in the 20 lap A Main. Johnston was able to get around Copeland on lap 10 to finish second. N Helwig waged a duel with Mendes for fourth before gaining that spot for good on lap 16. Mendes and Larson were fighting for sixth when they crashed after taking the white flag. McCain won ahead of Johnston, Copeland, N Helwig, A J Kerns, Tarter, Becker, Wolf, Austin Kerns and Ron LaPlant. Larson and Mendes ended up in 13th and 14th.
Third in the season opener last weekend, Brian Southers turned quick time for a 30 kart Open Intermediate class with a very fast 11.190 lap. Mason Moore was second at 11.288 and Kyle Larson third at 11.403. The dash field was rounded out by Chad Pace, Alissa Geving and Tyler Taylor. Moore scored a narrow win over K Larson in the dash with C Pace in third. Reddick earned the pole position for the A main action by winning heat 1 from the pole after timing in 7th quick. Mendes ran second ahead of Troy Foulger. Foulger has supported the Lakeport outdoor season in the past, but that track is only doing indoor winter time action now. Josh Keheley from Mariposa was only 18th quick, but put on a passing clinic as he won heat 2 from the third row. Opening week winner Dillon Silverman came from dead last to get second ahead of Michael Forslund, who also came from deep in the field. Again, the top six from each heat advanced to join the six dash karts. Austin Roach won the B Main ahead of Mike Schroeder, Cole Peard and last starting Aaron Bundy as Stephanie Yannazzo and Blake Heauser just missed transferring. Keheley beat Reddick on the start and paced two rounds before Reddick took command of the 20 lap feature. Reddick was out front the rest of the way. Moore started fifth with his dash win and he got by Keheley for second on lap 6. K Larson and Silverman traded third until K Larson claimed that spot on lap 11. K Larson made a strong pass of Moore on lap 15, but could only chase winner Reddick to the checkered flag. Reddick won ahead of K Larson, Moore and a fast closing Forslund. Matthew Davis ran second in the season opener, but his kart would not run for time trials tonight. He battled from last to fourth in his heat and then made a late move into fifth in the 20 lapper. Southers broke while fourth in the closing laps and C Pace ended up sixth ahead of Silverman, Nick Larsen and Foulger.
Keith Bloom Jr was quickest of the 23 Intermediates at 11.697. That just nipped the 11.719 for Jacob Miller. Reddick was third quick in this class at 11.729. Jake Cartwright, Nevada’s Hunter Colodny and Jake Morgan also made the dash. Cartwright raced to the dash win in front of Reddick and J Miller. A third place finisher in the season opener, Thomas Bruckenstein timed in 11th quick but earned pole position for the 20 lapper with his win in heat 1 over double division racer Cameron Bartlett and triple division racer James Edens. Tyler Seavey is also doing double duty by advancing into this class and he ran fourth in heat 1. Sean Martin was 10th quick and won heat 2 from the outside front row to get the other front row assignment in the A Main. William Fielding earned a second row start in the 20 lapper with a runnerup finish ahead of Max Adams. A small B Main was won by Nevada’s Zachary Heinz ahead of fellow Nevada racer Tanner Thorson and Tyler Taylor. Bruckenstein raced to the A Main win ahead of Martin, Reddick, Bartlett, Adams, J Miller, Edens, Jeremy Phillips, Colodny and Mallorie McGahan. Colodny’s finish included a jump start penalty.
Division newcomer John Giffin earned quick time honors for the 25 sportsman with a very quick 11.354 mark. Scott Burgess won the season opener the previous weekend and ranked a distant second at 11.579. Greg Yannazzo ran third quick at 11.655 and the dash field was rounded out by Mark Torrison, Kevin Gaines and John Everson. Torrison was the dash winner in front of Giffin and Gaines. Burgess started 10th and ran second ahead of opening night runnerup D Ritcheson. Keeter came from 11th to get fourth ahead of opening night third place Mahon. The top ten was rounded out by Sciarroni, Rogers, Christopher Schrezenni, Greg Roach and Torrison. Aaron Colburn was a feature scratch.

Skylar Tweedle ranked sixth and won the dash that included all nine karts. Edens was second in the dash ahead of Gillingwater. Tweedle then finished off his career night with a win in the A Main ahead of Gillingwater, opening race runnerup Rossi, Nelson and Brayden Evans. Tweedle ran third last week. Edens settled for 7th this week behind Braedon Enos.
