Chico, CA -- Still two months shy of his 14th birthday, Parker Stores sponsored Kyle Larson from Elk Grove drove around last week’s feature winner Daniel Becker with four laps to go and won Saturday night’s 20 lap Open Outlaw Kart A Main at Cycleland Speedway. It was his first Open Outlaw A Main win at Cycleland and gives him six wins in 2006. He now has 120 feature wins in his career including an incredible 34 wins in 2005. He will be making his midget racing debut in Arizona in June driving a car owned by Clarence Reddick. Larson did his usual double duty and won the dash honors in both the Open Outlaw and Open Intermediate divisions. He started the night tied for the Open Intermediate point lead and ran third in that feature. Becker ended up second in the Open Outlaw A Main and pole starter Michael Helwig was third. The Open Intermediate 20 lap A Main was won by seventh quick Dillon Silverman, whose heat race win from the pole put him on the pole for the main event. Silverman was never headed in the main and sub Keith Bloom Jr charged from 9th to edge out Larson for second place honors. Bloom had a busy night as he won his normal divison, the Intermediates and then raced to a second from Brian Southers in the Open Intermediates and ran sixth in the Opens as a sub for Colby Copeland. Both Southers and Copeland were out of state at weddings. Bloom was third in points in the Intermediates starting the night, but set quick time, ran third in the dash and won that 20 lap feature ahead of Cameron Bartlett, William Fielding and pole starter Jake Cartwright. Seventh quick Brad Jones led the first 11 laps of the sportsman feature before point leader and fast timer Scott Burgess took over. Burgess had a problem after leading three laps and he had to restart in the back. Jones was back out front and he raced to the win ahead of Scott Morton and Grant Keeter as previous week winner Burgess could only make it back to 9th. Santa Rosa’s James Edens did his usual triple duty and won the Pro Box Stock feature. He is the point leader in that class. A jump start penalty against Reilly Gillingwater pushed him back to 4th after he crossed the line in second. That gave second to Skylar Tweedle ahead of Donell Nelson. The Seavey brothers are locked in a fierce duel for the Box Stock track title and they ran 1-2 in that class tonight. Young Logan Seavey led his older brother Tyler Seavey by just five points starting the night. T Seavey had a big night as he timed in third quick, won the dash and then drove around L Seavey on lap 11 to win the 20 lap feature. L Seavey ran second ahead of Edens and Lain Baker. Five year old Korey Combs joined the Beginner Box Stock action and won both the heat and feature with five year old Ryan Robinson second in both races. Tucker Donnelly edged out William Seim for third.

2005 champion Tyler Wolf was quick time in a 29 kart Open Outlaw field with a 11.230 lap. Entering the night tied for second in points with Becker 15 behind point leader Pete Johnston, Tyler McCain was second quick at 11.308. Johnston ranked third at 11.309. Becker ran 11.331, Larson an 11.345 and the busy Bloom ranked sixth at 11.357. Larson won this dash from the front row with a very quick 10.629 best lap. He was two seconds in front of Becker as McCain ran third. After timing in 9th quick, M Helwig got the pole for the 20 lap feature with a win from the outside front row in heat 1. His brother Nic Helwig started fourth and chased him to the victory to earn the third starting spot in the A Main. David Tarter ran third in heat 1. Eighth quick Jerry Johnson got the other front row assignment for the A Main with his win from the pole in heat 2. Third starter A J Kerns ran second and started fourth in the A Main. Double division racer Camron Mendes was third in heat 2. The top four from the combined heat action get the front two rows for the A Main followed by the six dash karts in the order that they finished the dash so Larson qualified to start fifth in the 20 lapper. Six karts each from the two heats move into the A Main and another 4 come from the B Main. R C Smith won the B Main ahead of pavement late model star Ryan Foster, John Michael Bunch and Mitchell Miller. Just missing the transfer were Derek Williams and Ryan Everson as Anthony Orgain made a rare Cycleland appearance and placed 7th. M Helwig led the first 3 laps of the A Main from his pole start. Sixth starting Becker surged in front of Larson early in the race and gained second on lap 1 ahead of Larson. Becker took the lead from M Helwig on lap 3 and Larson was second on lap 5. After chasing Becker for a dozen laps, Larson made his winning move on lap 17 and raced to the win in front of Becker and M Helwig. N Helwig briefly nosed in front of his brother for third on lap 19, but settled for fourth at the finish ahead of Wolf, Bloom, McCain, Rudger Worley, Emalee Ramirez and A J Kerns. R C Smith was the final lead lap finisher. Larson ran the quickest feature lap at 10.939 and he finished ¾ of a second in front of previous week winner Becker. Becker’s best was a 10.971. Johnston ran 19th. Wolf started the night fourth in points ahead of Austin Kerns and Larson.

There were 24 Open Intermediates and co-point leader Mason Moore was quickest at 10.947. Moore and Larson started the night tied for the point lead and Larson got second quick time at 11.087. Bloom subbed for Southers in this class and ranked third at 11.261. Mendes ran a 11.410 and the dash was rounded out by young Tyler Reddick and Alissa Geving. Larson came from the back row to add this dash win. He had a 10.718 best lap and won by a half second over Moore, who had a 10.867. Geving ran third in front of Reddick. Seventh quick Silverman got the pole for the 20 lap feature with his win from the pole in heat 1 and third starting Nick Larsen ran second to earn the third starting spot in the A Main. Josh Keheley from Mariposa also won from the pole in heat 2 after timing in 8th quick to earn the other front row starting slot in the A Main. Quincy’s Cole Peard came from deep in the pack to get second and earn the 4th starting spot in the feature. Jake Park and Matthew Davis ran third in the two heat races. Tyler Taylor won a small B Main ahead of Michael Forslund and Mike Schroder. Silverman took full advantage of his pole start as he was never headed in the 20 lap A Main. He was sixth in points starting the night, 35 behind the co point leaders. Bloom had to battle from 9th starting, but he followed Larson around Keheley on lap 4 for the 2-3 slots. Bloom passed Larson on lap 8 to take over second and he chased Silverman to the checkered flag. Larson finished off a great night with a 3rd so he combined a win and a third with two dash victories. Moore started sixth and finished fourth to stay close to Larson in the point race. Davis ran fifth ahead of Troy Foulger, Keheley, 10th row starter Forslund, Mendes and Larsen. Keheley’s finish included a two position jump start penalty. Southers started the night 21 points back of the two point leaders in third so the Bloom performance will not hurt his cause. Fourth ranked Reddick got last in the 22 kart A Main and fifth ranked Geving was 12th.

Bloom was great in all three classes that he raced in this night as he dominated his usual Intermediate class. Bloom was quickest of 24 entries at 11.239 to easily pace the 11.700 posted by second quick Thomas Bruckenstein. Nevada’s Hunter Colodny had a 11.715 and fast improving William Fielding ran 11.780. Also making the dash were young racers Jacob Miller and Reddick. Bruckenstein came from the back row to win the dash over Reddick as Bloom charged from sixth to third. 9th quick Jake Cartwright got the pole for the A Main with his win in heat 1 over pole starter James Edens. Cameron Bartlett came from deep in the field to third. Sean Martin timed in 8th and won heat 2 from the pole to also get a front row start in the 20 lap A Main. Max Adams started 4th and ran 2nd ahead of Brittany Wilcox. Six karts battled for four transfers in the B Main and Garry Burdick posted that win in front of Garrett Carney and Tyler Seavey. Bloom took the A Main honors from 7th starting as 11th starting Bartlett charged to a second. Cartwright led the first 10 laps of the feature before Bloom took over. Bloom charged all the way to second on lap 2. Bartlett was 7th at midway, but took third from Bruckenstein on lap 17 and second from Cartwright on lap 19. Fielding also advanced from 9th to get third ahead of front row starters Cartwright and Martin. Incoming point leader Reddick was 6th. He started the night with an 18 point lead on Bruckenstein and 23 in front of Bloom. Adams ran 7th ahead of J Miller, three division racer Edens, R J Johnson and Bruckenstein.

Holding a solid point lead, last week’s feature winner Scott Burgess was quickest of the 15 sportsman entries at 11.384. Greg Yannazzo ran a 11.598 and Grant Keeter had a 11.646. Also making the dash were Rick Arnett, Mark Torrison and Scott Morton. Morton won the dash from the pole with Keeter second ahead of Burgess. The lone heat race went to Jones in front of Jim Zigan and Donnie Ritcheson. The top four from the heat lined up in front of the six dash karts in the 20 lap feature. Jones raced into the lead with Morton coming from fifth to second on lap 1. Burgess was third on lap 2 and he took second from Morton on lap 11. Burgess then nosed ahead of Jones to lead laps 12-14, but had a problem and had to restart in the rear. Jones was back in front and he raced to the win. Jones was fifth in points starting the night. Keeter got as high as second on lap 15, but gave the spot back to Morton on lap 16. Keeter ran third ahead of Ritcheson, Britt McDaniel, J Zigan, G Yannazzo and Torrison. Burgess ran 9th. Torrison was 37 points back of Burgess starting the night, just one point ahead of Ritcheson. Morton ranked 4th.

There were only 8 Pro Box Stocks and third ranked Reilly Gillingwater turned quick time at 13.244. Peter Sheperd had a 13.330 and second ranked Skylar Tweedle from Quincy posted a 13.386. Ryan Burdick was fourth quick and point leader James Edens ranked fifth. Edens won the dash over Tweedle and Donell Nelson. Edens was never headed in the 20 lap feature. Gillingwater passed Sheperd on lap 13, but got a two position jump start penalty at the checkered flag. This gave Tweedle second and Nelson third as Gillingwater was pushed back to fourth ahead of Sheperd and newcomer Brianna Pozark. Edens held just a four point lead on Tweedle starting the night with Gillingwater only 13 points back, two in front of Nelson.

Edens was fifth in points for the Box Stocks starting the night and he turned quick time over a 16 kart field at 13.317. Bryce Acquistapace ran 13.328 and T Seavey had a 13.344. Double division Gillingwater ranked fourth ahead of point leader L Seavey and Austin Pace. T Seavey’s big night included a dash win over Edens and Gillingwater. Chase Majdic won the lone heat race ahead of Brian McGahan Jr and Nick Varricchio. In the 20 lap feature, McGahan Jr beat Majdic on the start and paced two laps before falling back to fifth. L Seavey led lap 4, but Majdic surged in front on lap 5. L Seavey regained the lead on lap 5 and set the pace until succumbing to his older brother T Seavey on lap 11. T Seavey and L Seavey ran 1-2 the rest of the way. L Seavey’s point lead starting the night was just five points over T Seavey as Lain Baker and Gillingwater were tied for third, 33 points back of T Seavey and just 2 in front of Edens. Baker briefly took third from Edens on lap 14, but Edens finished third ahead of Baker, Gillingwater, Majdic, McGahan Jr, Acquistapace and A Pace.

A couple late arrivals gave the Beginner Box Stock class a ten kart field. Five year old Korey Combs won the heat race over five year old Ryan Robinson and five year old William Seim. Korey Combs then took feature honors ahead of Robinson, 7 year old Tucker Donnelly, Seim and 7 year old Michael Ing.
