EDDIE KIRCHOFF REMAINS UNDEFEATED AT CASPER Dirt Late Models
Casper, WY -- Eddie Kirchoff from Gillette made it three wins in three races for 2006 at Casper Speedway on Friday night. He was back in his own car and won both his heat race and the feature, coming from sixth starting in both races. He now has scored 8 feature wins this season, the highest total for a dirt late model racer in the Western US. Casper’s own Randy Thomas ran second in both races and is just one point behind defending champion Jason Schierkolk in their duel for second in points. Third place finisher Mitchell Rodgers is fourth in points, just 2 behind Schierkolk. Kirchoff is 18 points ahead of Schierkolk. This is the first year that the young college student Kirchoff has elected to do his Friday night racing in Casper.
Kirchoff won the heat race from sixth as outside front row starter Thomas ran second ahead of pole starter Schierkolk. In the feature, ageless Forest Canipe and Glenn Asmus shared the front row with Thomas and Schierkolk in row 2. Kirchoff came from last starting to win the main ahead of third starting Thomas and fifth starter Rodgers. Schierkolk ran fourth ahead of Asmus and Canipe. Asmus is fifth in points, 26 behind leader Kirchoff.
Next action for the dirt late models here is the track’s own mini speed week as the class is scheduled for July 3, July 4 and July 7. The July 4th date is a NAPA/MDA Tour date and many of those teams are expected to hit town a day early for the Monday July 3rd race.
Summary Heat-Eddie Kirchoff, Randy Thomas, Jason Schierkolk, Forest Canipe, Glenn Asmus. Main-Kirchoff, Thomas, Mitchell Rodgers, Schierkolk, Asmus, Canipe.
