Perris, CA -- Climbing into a distant second in track points, Ed Perry won Saturday night’s super stock feature at Perris Auto Speedway. Linny White ran second ahead of Kyle Gomez as runaway point leader Mark Shackelford settled for sixth place. Southern California veteran racer Alan Grubel was the street stock feature winner ahead of Jim Coates and a rapidly improving Jeff Seescholtz. With a sixth place finish, Curtis Dietzsch got within 9 points of point leader Don Zoll Sr, who finished 15th in the 20 car feature. The California Lightning Sprints only have two dates on the Perris schedule for 2006 and their first visit to the clay half-mile found their point leader Brent Sexton with the feature win over third ranked Donny Gansen and fourth ranked David Bezio. The Ashley Dellario/Justin Turner team got their first cruiser feature win ahead of Shearer/Ingram and Henderson/King. Eddie Lagor and Robert Connelly ran 7th and came out of the night with a one point lead on defending champions Tyson Talkington and Dillon Lewis.

The super stocks fielded 11 cars and December open comp winner Perry won for the second time in 2006 ahead of White, Gomez, Corey Sisler, Ken Searcy, Shackelford, third ranked Jack Dodd, double division Henry Wesolowski Sr and Bill Parenteau. Shackelford’s point lead is 86 over Perry and 87 ahead of Dodd. Wesolowski Sr is 13 points back of Perry and 7 ahead of White. When points were released for the Topless Late Models, rookie Chad Jones continued to hold the lead but just 12 tallies in front of June 17th winner Jeff Dunham. Art Peterson has fallen 36 points back of the leader and just 2 ahead of tied teammates Carla Laney and Nick Bartels.

The street stocks again used heat races and a B Main to narrow down the turnout to a 20 car feature. Grubel got the win ahead of Coates, Seescholtz, Joe Shaugis, Tony Lima, Dietzsch, Wesolowski Sr, Blaine Whitson, Jake Everhart and Dave Vreatt. Wesolowski is third in this class, 24 behind Dietzsch and 8 ahead of Coates.

The California Lightning Sprints also whittled a large field down to a 20 car feature and their five point leaders all finished in the top 8 slots. B Sexton won ahead of D Gansen, Bezio, Bakersfield’s Wink Schweitzer, newcomer Shane Rosson, Gary Sexton, Seth Kramer, Steve Barnette, Shawn Peto and Stuart Hielscher. The club is scheduled to return here on August 26. B Sexton’s point lead is 44 over both G Sexton and D Gansen with Bezio another 38 points back in fourth. Barnette is 26 behind Bezio.

There were 12 Cruiser teams and the Dellario/Turner team beat Shearer/Ingram, Henderson/King, Merritt/Meyer, Urquahart/McClone and Fengler/Holms.

The Stock Car classes return on July 8 and July 15 and the Topless Dirt Late Models are running a 30 lap feature for $1500 to win on July 15. Midwestern star Al Purkey will be making a July appearance at the track running one of the local cars that he formerly owned.
