Chris Pook purchased Gateway in 1994 and it opened in 1997, as one of America’s premier motorsports facilities and is often referred to as a flat Darlington. Gateway was formerly an eighth-mile drag strip called St. Louis Raceway Park and owned by Wayne Meinert. Gateway International has played host to NASCAR Sprint Cup Series, Craftsman Truck Series, Indy Car (IRL).
