Grundy County Speedway

Promoter: Frank Welch Grundy County Speedway Fairgrounds originally located at Mazon, Ill., was built at the turn of the century. For years, some of the greatest race car drivers in the country participated at the Grundy County Fair including Wilber Shaw, Maury Rose and Tony Bettenhausen. In 1970, the Grundy County Fair Board was faced with a situation where the fairgrounds were obsolete with no adjacent land available for expansion. The fairgrounds were moved nine miles to the North in Morris. The relocated fairgrounds opened with stock car racing in May, 1971 and have continued since the present time.
