| West Richland, WA TCR is the fastest 1/2 mile track west of the Mississippi! Why is it faster than other ovals? Because the track configuration is a true tri-oval. That means that the track has three corners and three straights. Each straight and each corner is different. This makes it much harder for teams to find the "perfect" car setup (configuration). The track configuration does allow teams to find setups that allow the cars to carry more speed overall through the highly banked asphalt corners.
If corners with different bankings and radius weren't enough, the track has curbs on the inside of corners as well as concrete walls and tires on the outside of corners.
Enough? Hardly! The most treacherous part about racing at TCR is racing at sunset. The windshields on the race cars are made of a plastic material called "Lexan". Lexan is safer than glass and easier to clean up after a wreck. Lexan easily scratches and each tiny scratch causes light to refract like a prism. What does all this mean? When the driver turns into turn 2 when the sun is setting the light through the windshield is like a thousand flashbulbs going off 2 feet in front of your eyes. The driver goes from being blinded to driving into the shade right before the west turn!
This combination of events makes for some great challenges for the drivers and great action for the fans. Address .: 47615 Highway 224
